Similar to above, was watching one of those Watchdog type programmes on BBC. They said when you go out and about shopping, they have devices in shops which send Bluetooth signals to your phone and track which shops you’ve been in and even which aisles you went down in bigger shops. These signals then select the ads you’ll seen on your phone later. The advice was to switch your Bluetooth off on your phone.
Have a rummage in your phone security settings - I turned off microphone access for all apps except the phone and FaceTime/Skype and I don’t tend to get so many of these targeted adverts these days.
