He’s half way there in six seasons, I think he can break it if he stays in England his whole career.

Maybe, but he'll also have to stay fit and at the level he's at for another half dozen seasons.
I'd back him to be second in the list when he's done.

Hes an intelligent player who doesn’t rely on pace (a la Sheringham) so I see no reason why he won’t keep his standards up. Injuries could be a problem especially his ankles but I’m still confident he will break the record both domestically and internationally.

He's one goal behind Martin Chivers in our all-time list now.

Also just one European Cup/CL goal behind Van Basten and Cruyff I think.

Is he looking happier, sharper playing for England than he is playing for us?

Didn't watch the game....curious because for us he is playing like he's carrying Danny Rose's lunch bag on his back

I was at the game last night and I would say the main difference comes from the fact that this England team is dynamic and plays quick football with very strong attacking fullbacks and wingers with real pace and incisiveness. Any striker will look better in such a team compared to Spurs where right now, he is starved of service. I have no doubt that Kane will continue to score a tremendous amount of goals for us if we can supply him with chances.

So they play like we used to play when Kane was at his best

If we played with the verve and purpose this England team display, we would not be where we are in the table right now, that’s for sure.

If we played Montenegro we would look better too tough. They were terrible last night.

Really is amazing what happens when you play two competent FBs and two wingers who generally stay wide and don't try congesting the middle to get in the way of Kane which then forces him out of position. Keep him up on his own, supply him with balls and 9 times out of 10 he'll win you the game.

We could just use Son and Moura either side of him with one of several attacking midfielders in behind them.
We always seem to play them on the wrong sides whenever all three are selected, though.

Having a competent DM would (in theory) offer better protection to the back line and give the full backs the freedom to get forward

It's no coincidence our fullbacks were devastating when the Dier/Dembele and Wanyama/Dembele pivots were bossing midfield, and considerably less progressive when we used either Sissoko or Winks as an ersatz DM

Team balance and working partnerships are so important.
Keane and Berbatov were both very good strikers, but they were devastating when combined.
Crouch and Defoe were very tough to play against too, as the best tactics to deal with one of them helped the other.

We appear to have forgotten which combinations work, for some reason.

The one I don't get is the Toby/Dele combination that was effective a few seasons ago, where Toby would chip it 40+ yards for Dele to chest down and smash in from the edge of the area, has vanished completely. That was a useful weapon to have in the locker, but Toby doesn't seem to make those passes anymore

I read somewhere that Pochettino told him to cut it out, but that might just be bullshit.

Considering recent pass maps show Gazzaniga making those passes to both Kane and Alli, I doubt it

First England player to score in every game of a qualifying campaign.
First England player in 90 years to score a dozen goals in a calendar year. Nobody has ever got more.

See some Kane hating from the hacks, and gobshites like Lineker.

It would be interesting to do a "like for like" on Kane vs Greavsie first
(as obviously the other strikers who played for England are far lesser
    benchmarks) .

Specifically some objective measure of the "quality" of all the opposition
Greavsie scored against (I doubt there were FIFA nation ranking measures
    back in the day) .

If we can do that first, then it might be worth doing so vs Lineker and Shearer.
