I do think we'll wanna keep him anyway, once he gets a run of games, and it will all be irrelevant.

Unless he does too well. I wanna keep him, I just want him to get some frigging game time in the meantime. Same with Giacc.

    I concur entirely.

Probably the 2 most talented we have, and we ain't seen them. With Defoe and Connor looking half decent and AJ as well, we SHOULD be half decent second half of season.

Surely the 352 allows to play them both? He won't though, one creative midfielder tops in that system I fear. That Gives us a pecking order of AJ, Giacc and Alvarez, one of them isn't going to get enough playing time I fear.

Hell I'd play all three in the old 433, and switch the systems depending on opponents. Gus needs the stones to get us attacking without fear or one or two of that creative three is going to suffer a lack of playing time. All three are too good not to be getting games at Sunderland.

You know what mate, I'd just go brave.

    Connor - Defoe
    Giacc-Alvarez (hole) - AJ
    Catts- Seb
    PVA - JOS - Rev
    Pants

Yeah, we'd be ****ed on the break, but surely we'd be filth going forward!

<laugh> That's ****ing scary defensively fella, scary <laugh> One extreme to another. :p

If you worked the system though to drop Catts and seb into a high lined back three with O'Shea and have PVA and Rev making curved outside runs overlapping Giacc and AJ it would torment defences. I mean, how do you even pick up a runner going from CB to the byline? Think we'd still concede like ****, it would need Vito in to play as a sweeper keeper.

I probably wouldn't go that offensively fella but love your balls. :p

I wouldn't want Alvarez to get more games than he's ready for. I think maybe we judged Riveros too quickly, and lost a good player because of it. I'm just happy for Ricky, Poyet and Vergini to talk this timetable through. If he's looking o.k. by the end of the season, I think we might buy ourselves a gem.

Ricky won't get better without games imo, he's in an alien country in an alien league, only games will get him where we want him and nothing else, to not play him isn't worth having him, as until he's adapted he can never ever bring us his maximum potential. Vergini gets the games but we all know he's Poyet's little love monkey. Other overseas players need similar game time imo. Fact is they're not getting it at the moment. Might as well not be eating up our wage budget. The time is now for Alvarez and Giacc to get the run of games they need.

I would play the attacking side at home and park the bus away, we have the players to do this lets use them, nothing ventured nothing gained imo.

    Aye.

We've shown enough to see we can defend well and break well on the road, but lets go at teams at home. Gus says he wants the fans on side, make us proud!

The noise in the Reidy years was in no small part due to the gun-ho football and the fact we all knew we were good for a goal or 2 every week.

Well he has taken a big step forward tonight. I hope it's the start of a good spell for the lad and 7 million or what ever it might be looks like a bargain in the summer!!!

Constant threat mate, looked good. Cut in nicely from the right a lot and looked a lot better than the brief glimpses of the past.

Definitely the most mentioned name on the radio. Must have heard the sentence 'floats past a couple of defenders' about 10 times. That and Tricky Ricky. <laugh>

Considering the lack of play before today, he'd be like a new signing this window!
