Good point, haslam. I thought about this a lot. The only explanation for their holding back that I can come to is that, at the time of the injury, Sunderland only needed a few points to secure their PL position. We had two 'easy' home games coming up against Palace and Villa, so maybe Inter thought 'delay it a couple of weeks, and then it's Sunderland's problem'. Unfortunately for them, Sunderland lost both 'easy' games, and it dragged on and on into May. Which places them in a very bad light now. I'm only guessing, of course, but I can't explain their action any other way. I think they 'chanced it' and it's rebounded on them.
