The problem Bruce has with Aluko is getting him the ball in positions where he's facing the goal and can run at defenders. When he's facing away from goal he's an erratic player with some skill but poor awareness. If you can get him running at defenders with his skill and pace it can create all sorts of chaos, but it's harder to get him into those situations in the Premier League than it was in the Championship (and particularly in the Scottish Premier, where he could take the piss against pub players).
So you plan on keeping a player who is injured 90% of the time and when he's not injured, you're going to stick him on the bench?
I agree that is what Steve Bruce has said but...it was said to me on Sunday that he expected to be at least on the bench ??
He's not fit enough to justify a club paying a big fee, but he is good enough to warrant it if he were fit and playing to his level of ability
It is very simple Andy. Bruce doesn't want him to leave but if he does he is going to get good money for him.
He's greedy doesn't seem a team player if we could get a decent fee id see him off think we could get better for the money.
I wouldn't sell him. You need a number of quality players like Aluko at this level and e can also cover a number of positions. I have every faith that after getting a good pre season under his belt he'll be back to his best and whatever we could sell him for in the summer after his form post injury will be peanuts compared to his worth to us next season.
I'd be disappointed if we let Aluko go, I still think he has the potential to be a great player(assuming he stays fit obviously).
Disagree about the final. Aluko may be the most talented striker we have available but he has been totally off form since he came back from injury and since I think we will go 4-5-1 in the final (with Sagbo being the 1) the best he can hope for is a chance to make an impact from the bench.
90% is a bit high! Still, if Aluko stays, he needs to do what Fryatt has done and get his head down as he gets back to full fitness. If we are involved in Europe next season I'm sure Aluke will get plenty of chances in cup games if not so many in the league should he stay with us.
His form has been poor since he came back, but he was good at Wembley, maybe he likes the bigger stage and I expect he will play some part. If we play the entire game with Sagbo as a lone striker, we'll need the game to last at least four hours to give him a chance of scoring.
