I refer you to this post I made last night (note also that equaling last year's FA Cup performance would not get us into Europe this season). Link
So if we have an even better team no danger of relegation then so we could have taken Europe more seriously ?
Aluko was our best player in the first leg, and now he's a bag of ****e, according to some people. Get a grip.
On the night you might think it, on the night you might think many things about many of the players, the secret is not to post shiote about individual players....none of them WANTED to lose ffs!
The only way I can see us qualifying for Europe by league position is if we get a billionaire investor à la Man City. The only way we could get in otherwise is obviously through cups, but if we didn't take the biggest cup competition we've ever been in seriously we aren't going to do so with the domestic ones either. We got lucky on our last run to draw easy teams, and that meant that a second string team was good enough to get through. This is something which might not happen again any time soon.
we have only just got a better team, our best signings have come AFTER our Euro adventure. Imagine if we'd have played Thud and a couple of better players, and they'd have gotten injured. we haven't exactly got a deep enough squad of OUTSTANDING players where we can afford to risk some injuries. Losing Snodgrass in his first game for us displayed to us that in some positions we are down to our bare bones.
But being our best player in a ****e performing side in the first leg is hardly a ringing endorsement !!
With Aluko he has to be either a provider of goals or a scorer of them, for the moment he does neither. He has a good game in Belgium, but he really has to be more affective.
Agreed, he's a luxury player and he's not currently doing enough. But I'd keep him, he's a great player to have on the bench, he's one of the few players who can come on and change a game.
Similarly some have slated Brady's performances at the beginning of the season and he got us 2 goals on Thursday.
Fickle? And as for Brady he has been s**t of late. The first goal he knew nothing about and simply walked it in, the second well, it was a penalty, a number of players could have taken that, even figgy. I'm not doubting Alukos ability, I just feel as if he isn't contributing to the team and he's had enough f*cking chances to prove himself! The reason we didn't win that game last night was because of our left side. Figgy, Meyler and Brady (they didn't link up). All of our attack came down the right or through the middle.
