well if you like lapses in concentration and losing the ball in front of your own goal that's all right,i call it bad play, and he does it to much.as for best player for a couple of season's,i don't think so.

Not best player but one of our best players. As has already been said he takes risks. If you want your left back to hoof it into row Z every time just to be on the safe side then fine. I prefer for us to play football and if we lose the odd goal so be it.

you don't have to hoof it,for a good left back look at Ashley Cole,he does'nt hoof the ball, and he does'nt take risk's,so they don't lose games because there l/b has f****d up again.

Ashley Cole has arguably been the best left back in the world the last few years so slightly unfair comparison. Ashley Cole and Evra of last season aside, I wouldn't swap Benny for any other left back in the league. I would say Baines is on a similar level both with different attributes but I'd still rather have Benny!

Well if that’s the case, lets bring back Atouba! the guy had me in stitches at times with his "skill"!

Still remember his right foot curler against Newastle at St James Park! Can't think of much else though. Except he was called Atouba toothpaste.

Yeah but I meant the standout thing that he did. I remember he was bloody massive!
What are your thoughts on Benny then boss? I suppose he's a bit like Gomes although not as many clangers. We now have a very "safe" goalie in Friedel who some criticise for playing too safe. I guess it's a matter of opinion. Personally I love Benny and have a bit of a man crush on him! Ha ha!

it might be an unfair comparision, but that's what Benny should be aiming to play like, unfortunatly he's not good enough, but we need really good players in defence, not risk takers, while we settle for that we will not improve

Kyle walker aims to play like Dani Alves but isn't as good. Of course you have to aim as high as possible. Benny is as good a left back as we are going to get where we are now. We aren't going to agree on this, as I have said before Benny is like the marmite of the Spurs players to us fans!

He's a great character but in all honesty I would prefer we signed a more reliable left back that doesn't perform as if he is on gangja! its the lapses in concentration that make me doubt the guy, yet luckily he doesn't cause us problems every week.

I like to see no nonsense switched on players, that don't piss about at the back, but I can understand why Benny has such a following, he is like a cult hero and will always have his fans.

Walker was certainly the weak link against Reading.

Walker is seen as one of the best attacking full backs in the league so he gets away with being a fairly average defender, its always been that way with defenders that make their name in an attacking sense (apart from ramon vega!).

Alves is 7 years older than Walker. He's still only 22.
As long as he doesn't start diving all over the place like the Barca man does, then I'll continue to be pleased with his game.
Not his best performance defensively against Reading, but he did seem to cover a hell of a lot of ground.

Benny is actually very good going forward as well. Maybe not as dynamic as walker but I think he is underestimated in this area of his game. He scored more goals than Walker last season for us in the league and consistently puts in great crosses.
I know he does seem like he's p*ssing about sometimes and should get rid of it but I wouldn't say he makes any more mistakes than walker or gallas.

I really rate Walker and he has the potential to be one of the best right backs in the world. He has all the right tools just needs to be coached right over the next few years. Looking how much he has improved in the last couple of years I wouldn't be surprised if he did become the best.
