Keeping an eye on Alpine, their car seems to be bouncing a fair bit at the moment - rumours of their front wing concept really maximising downforce and as we saw with Ferrari last year, that often induced the porpoising effect. Be interesting if they manage to do what Red Bull did last year and find the trick to stabilising all of that performance. Their car does seem quite unique to the field and so worth monitoring their progress (or lack of) as a pointer to everyone else.
Heard something on the news about Alpine selling 24% share to some actors and other investors.Ryan Reynolds name was mentioned.,but I didn`t catch all of it. More cash for F1 can only be good,or maybe it could be a cost cap loop hole !
Alpine: Ryan Reynolds and Rob McElhenney part of group taking 24% equity stake in F1 team Wrexham Football Club owners Ryan Reynolds and Rob McElhenney are part of an investor group taking a 24% equity stake in Formula 1 team Alpine. Alpine's parent company, Renault, announced on Monday the two Hollywood actors are investing alongside Otro Capital and RedBird Capital Partners. The 200m euros (£171m) deal values Alpine Racing, which is based in Britain, at about £706m. Alpine are fifth in this year's F1 constructors' championship. Reynolds and McElhenney completed their takeover at Wrexham in 2021 and the Welsh club were promoted back to the Football League after a 15-year absence when they won the National League title in April. US investment firm RedBird is an investor in Fenway Sports Group, the owner of Premier League side Liverpool and the Boston Red Sox baseball team. RedBird bought Italian Serie A club AC Milan in August 2022 in a 1.2bn euro deal and also has a controlling stake in French Ligue 1 side Toulouse. Alpine chief executive Laurent Rossi said: "This association is an important step to enhance our performance at all levels." Rossi added the investment would "boost" the F1 team's media profile, which in turn would support Alpine's "performance over the long term".
Szafnauer &. Permian out as of this Sunday . im not sure about Szafnauer , but Permian was highly thought of .
Sky reporting that Permane and Szafnauer have both been fired and Pat Fry has gone to Williams! So Alpine have the summer break to sort out management!
Ottmar Szafnauer comes across as clueless to me. So bitter. Think he had too much credit in the bank for Force India’s performances when they were “best of the rest”. What everyone forgot though was that McLaren had a Honda lawnmower engine at the time, Renault were in their infancy of return and slowly scaling up, their Merc customer engine had an 80HP advantage over all Renault works and customers, and Williams were on the slide. When he said his aim was to beat Aston Martin, I realised he probably wasn’t the mindset Alpine need to fight at the front. Of course, they’ve been trounced by Aston and Fernando too. I actually think Renault were best placed with Cyrille- at least he had got the podiums with Ricciardo and they had that long term plan. Who is their chief design team now with Fry gone?
Yes . Cyril was a top bloke . Another reason for disliking Horner so much , took all the credit for the glory years then three Renault ( Cyril ) under the bus when things went pear shaped
From Sky: Alpine Motorsports vice president Bruno Famin will take over from Szafnauer as interim team principal, while Alpine academy director Julian Rouse is named interim sporting director and technical director Matt Harman takes leadership on leadership of the "technical team"
Rumours intensify with ex-F1 team boss set for very quick return Rumours surrounding Mattia Binotto becoming Alpine team principal are intensifying, with multiple reports claiming he has agreed to join the Enstone-based team as Otmar Szafnauer’s replacement. He had been seen in the paddock at the British GP in July and was seen at the post Spa Grand Prix tyre test.
please log in to view this image The Alpine A524 has been revealed. Alpine really gone over the top with a car without paint,it`s nearly all bare carbon fibre. , Alpine went a different route as they unveiled their new colours for the season at their Enstone base for the year ahead, relying heavily on black for both the main and BWT-inspired liveries. please log in to view this image . please log in to view this image
ban this. if wr want a black car formula then paint some cars black. this is beyond a joke at this point regs should change to require minimum 50mic of paint all over car.
Not only does it look cac, the photography is diabolical. Agree that there should be a rule where certain body components must be painted. But I'm sure they'd figure a way around that too.
Just shows how absolutely CLUELESS the owners and regulators of the sport are. Here we are with F1 going global through new media platforms and we’ve managed to take away one of F1s purist joys- a beautiful livery. They are so disconnected to the fans it’s untrue. Just volume pushers nowadays - the true F1 fan is lost in all of it IMHO.
Your traditional fan is now superfluous. For now at least. F1 has a large enough audience now to not really care about long standing fans and can sell F1 as fluff around the world. Let's just accept it, the F1 we grew up loving is long since dead and will never return. But let's just hope we get some decent seasons of racing among the fluff.
