I take it this a reference to the League Table when it appears on the first day of the season, just before the first games..? I have always found it slightly annoying, as Saints have often been found, psychologically lodged in the relegation zone. I swear it has an effect on fans, if not the players, club, etc... Just imagine what it has been like for Wigan, Wolverhampton Wanderers, West Ham, etc.., over the years, On the other side of the coin, I wonder if Arsenal have always had a psychological advantage..?
 
I always thought that my teachers at infant school didn't like me (I know..impossible for you to imagine) because I was picked last for everything. It was only a couple of years ago when I read an article about the importance of being earlier in the alphabet that I realised it was because my maiden name was White. Luckily, marriage moved me to a more advantageous position. We are lucky that Southampton are no longer hovering at the bottom when the season starts.
