I know 606 talk annoys you a bit, but us 606ers have been used to this for ages!

So your saying J Villeneuve was better than G Villeneuve? No way, its not down to championships. Its down to how you race and win. BTW Alonso won the championship at 24 not 23. His BDay; 29/7/81 his WDC; 25/9/05 thats 24 years and 58 days not 23 years.

ATM I think that Alonso is the most complete driver out there - maybe being followed up closely by Vettel, or Kubica in a good team. I have to say though, british drivers are so overhyped. Hamilton is decent, but he's just a go-kart driver, and Button is past his prime.

I guess any F1 driver will be overhyped in their own country. Other sports are worse, every time Andy Murray plays tennis in a big tourny I pray for his early exit!

no british driver as good as alonso

    past or present

    Interesting observation.

Which British driver is/was the best (past or present) and how far away is he from Alonso's record?

Alonso is probably better than Mansell and Hill

On Par with G Hill, Hamilton and Hunt

Not as good as Jackie Stewart

Before the 2007 Hungarian GP, Alonso is reported to have asked Ron Dennis to sabotage Lewis Hamilton's car.

The news comes from the Sun newspaper and it is said that he wanted the 2008 champions car to run out of fuel during the race.
The spiteful spaniard is out of my good books I'm afraid, and I really hope Hamilton in his Mclaren does wonders this season, him along with Schumacher and Vettel of course.

its not just f1 though, the Spanish are superior to British when it comes to sports

Football - WC Champions! (England mediocre, Scotland a joke, Wales? lol!!)
Tennis - Nadal best in world (Murray a choker and overrated)
F1 - Alonso best in world (Lewis choker and Button overrated who got lucky)

No point talking about commonwealth sports like Rugby, Cricket...even then we aint still the best in those. New Zealand, Aussie, SA with their small population far superior to all Brits.

The reason is cuz Brits are happy with 2nd rate nonsense, we just lap up anything - no wonder rubbish like x-factor is big here. heheheehe

Alonso cannot even take a f**king ****ty little Renault in a Ferrari whereas Button turns into a fire breathing monster in 2009 Brazil not comparison really.

Manny, Schumacher didnt do better in AD did he? spinning out how great for 'the GOAT' The only people I remember doing overtaking on track (other than getting past schuey) was Kubica and Kobayashi. Remember that a certain LH couldnt pass a Renault either, its the track not the driver

Sorry "Fernando Alonso Fan", I'm not going to cry about your post, other than say Schumacher did well in 2010 for a 41 year old.

Not all the British press is that bad, you could get press in Spain and Germany the exaggerate stuff.

You do realise that Fangio won 4(?) titles beyond the age of 41. Schumacher got whipped by Rosberg. Before the mechanical and crappy faults for Rosberg (~Singapore) Rosberg had 1 less point with '09 points than Schumachers '10 points
