I'm glad BFS has the job. Back to basics, that's what we seem to be so frustratingly **** at.

I don't think it will be hoofball, but I don't think it will be tippy tappy one touch pass the ball a million times before giving it away cheaply and conceding either.

I think it will be fast paced, energetic and effective football with a solid back line. Which will suit us.

Quite. If you can read you can see the solution. If you can't, that's your problem.

There's one thing for certain - whether he succeeds or fails he will be massive.

Apologies glp, you stated above that you would rather have had Howe, missed it. I retract.

Ah well, I'm not hugely bothered about England. Hull City on the other hand!

Regarding Eddie Howe, many people state that he signs players and makes them better.

How many players have improved under Allardyce or Bruce? I genuinely don't know, but given what Bilic has done at West Ham post Allardyce - I'd probably say not many. Bruce? He signs players, they do well and then performances falter. You could be blindfolded and point a finger at any member of our squad and that rule would apply perfectly.

I cannot compare the two. City get under the skin week in week out and infuriate me, but England come along to a tournament every two years and destroy me. I cannot make my mind up what is worse at the moment.

Do you know why he's called Big Sam? It's nothing to do with his frame being massive...

    Great appointment.

I can't wait to see him on the touch line giving it both barrels for 90 minutes.

Alas we're not quite so intimate, but several former professional footballers have independently told me.

    It's like Godzilla apparently...

For the first time in over 4 years I feellike I can get behind the England team, looking forward to having allardyce as manager. Really think he'll make a big improvement to our performances and results and we'll find out now which players really want to play for England, no square pegs round holes and no tolerance for individuals or under performers. I don't se it being only hoofball, I think given the teams hes managed in the past hes played a direct game to get the best out of what hes had, with England it will be nice to see some more direct football when it's needed.

    Great post.

My thoughts exactly, I honestly think players will have to earn their place in the squad and not just play for a big club.

Hopefully any player who says that they're injured on a Wednesday and can't play for England but then play for their club on a Saturday get ****ed off under Samuel.

I'd rather have a committed Drinkwater than a half arsed Wilshere in my team every day of the week.

    As for Carol?

According to Bilic he's the best in the world in the air, why wouldn't you use that threat?

He was exactly what was needed in the last half hour against Iceland.

Apparently, Allardyce was second choice, the first choice who turned it down was Arsene Wenger.

The England ego's would destroy Eddie Howe, but Sam won't take any prisoners. Which suggests to me that Hodgson was handed the poisoned chalice and didn't have the conkers to deal with them...Clear out required.
