& Roberto Di Matteo for example when West Brom appointed him! Just for the record Nick Barmby didn't have any experience and he didn't do too bad did he.

Whoever The Allams bring in, lets give them a chance eh

The appointment will prove nothing either way, too many people have formed an opinion on the sketchy information and nailed their colours to one mast or the other and now just respond to any questionning with either abuse or a complete shut down of the conversation because they're not even open to the prospect of being wrong.

The Allam fans will look at a "good" appointment as vindication, and a "poor" one as them just making a mistake because they know nothing about football. The Allam cynics will look at a "good" appointment as luck due to their lack of football knowledge, and a "poor" one as vindication of their viewpoint.

And I'm using quotemarks because the judgement will be made on reputation. The Allam's could find the next Mourinho, but if nobody has heard of him because he's been at some French 3rd division side they'll be called to **** for making the cheap appointment and when it works out it will be luck. If they appoint a big name manager they'll be praised for it just because it's not cheap. Someone compared Keegan and Blackwell as though they're opposite ends of the spectrum with Keegan at the good end. In terms of managerial ability I don't think I'd find Keegan any better a prospect than Blackwell, the all out attack might be more attractive to watch, and it will certainly have the fans more in favour of it, but I wouldn't say it would give us any more chance of success.

Some of us are looking at this as Hull City fans and not necessarily in one camp or the other. It is possible to think the Allams know what they're doing and to trust them, whilst still being an admirer of Nick.

I will fully support whoever the new manager is - but IMO we should be going for someone with Championship experience rather than taking a risk (which may or may not come off) with someone who has only managed at a lower level.

By the way, since this is about the Allam's true colours, let's remember they have been paying wages for the following players throughout last season:
Oli 25k per week, Mcshane 13k per week, Ghilas 12k per week, Simpson 11k per week, Adebola 9k per week + whatever we paid Bullard before he was kicked out of the club. That's somewhere between 3.5 and 4.5 million on players who have barely kicked a ball for us all season. Just something to think about for those who are screaming about the Allam's not spending money.

Two sides of the same coin. Hull City

Ghilas was on 16k per week, we paid 75% of that = 12k per week

Oli had a relegation clause, he was on less than Ghilas last season, incredibly.

    75% isn't 100%
    And your point is?

I didn't say we paid Ghilas' full 16k per week. The point is that the Allams funded players who have no chance of playing for us again and they did so to the tune of £3m - £4m. That being the case it's no wonder they are trying to cut costs

It's also possible to think that the Allams don't know what they're doing but that it doesn't make them the spawn of Satan, and that Barmby is an arrogant little twat who's been harshly treated, or almost any number of other combinations.

But then I was just highlighting the polarised views some people won't move from whether we go on to win the Champions League in 3 years time, or whether after the same time we were relegated from the Football League.

Who they bring in as manager will throw more light on the Allams capabilities, or the Allam, if one of them is pulling the strings and the other is chucking the money at it. If they've scoured Europe and we end up with a lesser light than Nicky then we can all make our own minds up.

Nick Barmby was untried at this level of football. So it will not be hard to find someone who has:
    1 More experience
    2 Proven history of success
    3 Good contacts
    4 Great player motivation skills
    5 Respect within the sport
6 Respect from the ticket buying public

It may be difficult to find someone who is
    1 A local hero
    2 A household name
    3 Internationally recognised
    4 Proven Premiership management
5 All of the above and cheap!

    But we get someone who
1 Comes from a lower league but has been up there
2 You have to look up in Wikipiedia
3 Got sacked for having an affair with the chairmans son
    4 Doesnt do the training
    5 Wears odd socks
6 Couldnt apply last time because he was in the nick
7 Fights with anyone who asks him the time
8 Is being investigated by the fraud squad

But one thing is for sure, even supporters who hardly go to games will still say that they support the club!

Common sense at last! I liked Nick, but I think tha Allams are in for the long haul and genuinely want the best for City. The two positions are not mutually exclusive, as Madhog says.
