I have indeed and if the council use one to buy the New York, as they've suggested they are going to, then they will be able to knock it down. Until they do, they can't touch it. And that was a pathetically patronising comment.

The problem with New York is that ideally, you'd like to restore such a great building, not knock it down. But what would you do with it? Flats? Nobody in Christendom would buy/rent a nice flat on the edge of the ****tiest estate in the City. Unless they were after setting up a crack den. Levelling it is the only viable option, sadly. Though the question then becomes, what do you do with the land?
