And who was ultimately responsible for the purse strings? Not Bruce.
We had one of the smallest budgets if not the smallest budget in the PL
We kept brucey
We’d have kept Harry and robbo
And we’d have got the 70 million or whatever it was
We’d have got a tonne of money for robbo too
Think Sunderland imploded that season we’d have stayed up comfortably with brucey in charge and some clever additions
That was the wasted opportunity
Silly **** ehab saved the club!! ****ing hell
How much did he waste on loan signings in the January?? ****ing loads

We're up to our necks in debt so lets spend more? It's easy to say when its not your money.

Unconfirmed reports that another ex-City Chairman has passed away, I won't name until confirmed then will post on the RIP thread.

Bruce had the 7th biggest spend in the PL of £40 million in our relegation season - he got us relegated leaving us £100 million in debt - and some people think the Allams should give him even more - shakes head - he ****ed up big time, like he did at Villa, like he did at Newcastle and like he did at WBA

Yawn….not again….totally one sided…how much were the prem league payments? 175mill??
How much from player sales? Robertson / maguire & many many more
It was investment, it was manageable debt

No. He never
Let it go ffs
He was comfortably our best ever manager
Choke on that

A job thrust upon him by the sudden death of his dad, never really wanted it, had a private box at Forest by all accounts, under his tenure fell through the leagues, not the worst chairman we ever had though.
If we are talking Chris Needler? It was his fathers company, Hoveringham Gravels, who had the box at Forest. He was the reluctant chairman (his words). I was at an AGM once when the minority shareholders were giving him a hard time and the club were in dire straights with crowds below 5,000. Basically the club were sinking fast. He said he cannot continue propping the club up with is own money and its time the the other money men and business in area took some responsibility. I cannot remember exactly how much Chris Needler was personally pumping into the club every week but he said he it cannot continue. The shareholders were trying to pass a vote of no confidence but he answered it and stopped it dead in its tracks by saying if anyone of you fancies tacking the reigns from him and putting their own money in every week them please step forward now. Stoney silence from the floor. I stopped him once in the city centre and asked him what he intended doing to stop City sliding down the leagues. The poor bloke was at his wits end and said he cannot do much by himself. I actually felt sorry for him.

That’s how I recall it too and from some very connected local accountants / solicitors etc who knew him well.

Yes, remember that AGM. Typical that with all that was happening that the first question from the floor was about who was taking the corners and it needed altering. Was it that one of the following year that Dave Dewberry made him lose his rag?
