I feel the same, I felt a bond with the club as if I was a part of it. That bond seems to be fading and I'm already starting to feel indifference and worst of all amusement to the club as I feel toward any other rich mans toy.
Well seeing the outrage on here, it would lead to less income from the club, so it may not be the best move financially. Although saying that, he wants it to improve the brand, so may get investment or more support from abroad. Its a kick in the teeth to local fans however you look at it.
I think I may be misunderstanding you Dutch, but your previous post seemed to suggest that a new Limited company had been incorporated and player contracts etc transferred over? My understanding is that the name of the limited company has been changed but it is still the same company? I'm not talking about the commercial and playing sides of the club here.
Football really is not like a standard business, it is much more connected & reliant on the local community; especially in the difficult times. Commercially modelled systems inevitably become humanly disconnected & thus fail the community (or 'customer' if you like) in the end- not unlike what we are seeing happen in the NHS, rail & post. Maybe it's well intended but it is ultimately a corrupting approach, lots of people will be feeling a real sense of loss & disconnection right now - nowt to do with 'business', but who gives a **** eh? Why not call us 'Allam Marine Tigers' & get it done with? Alas Mr Allam is surrounded by sycophants so we get decisions like this, it's like the kings new clothes & we are gonna look ridiculous too. Sad day...
You can say what you like about acquiring more sponsors from abroad or bigger TV deals. But the game will suffer if local buns aren't on seats because passion will leak from the game. This is just another step that turns fans away. Less people wearing Hull City shirts in and around the City or abroad has to be a bad thing.
I'm talking from a position of almost complete ignorance, so you could well be right. I thought the new name was registered and everything transferred to it, but I guess it could equally be as you describe.
If my understanding is right, transferring contracts to a new company can be a mine-field. (look at Rangers, albeit slightly different circumstances) I would assume it would be a name change rather than new company.
And these lying barstewards are the ones that some people wanted Hull City Council to give the KC Stadium to !!
Nick Thompson and the Allams do the dirty work, take all the flak then the new owners/investors come in who have driven the changes. They demand it as it fits into their portfolio, I'm thinking Detroit Tigers. They buy a big money signing or two and its done.
I cant see it. The Allams have just bought a pot of gold. 50m investment, 100m + windfall, and to day approx 10m (max) expenditure on transfers. They will be staying for a couple of season at least unless stupid money is offered. Disclaimer: This is in no way a dig into the way the club is currently being ran!!
Hull City Association Football Club (Tigers) Limited changed it's name to Hull City Tigers Limited on 15.03.13. Same company though so still the same contracting party
That's the sort of question Geraghty would ask. As I understand it, there were a number of potential funding streams. The Council's opportunity was to become a part of that. It wasn't 'give us the stadium' it was more one option for one stream. Dialogue could possibly have produced others.
“If we talk about football-related things, it’s Hull City. If we talk about business-related items, it’s Hull City Tigers". How things change Nick T in 3 weeks.
The Allams wanted the stadium for £1 to allow them to use it as collateral to support loans for their other projects
interesting tweet... PJBuckingham 7m: FA rules state any proposed changes to a club's name must be received by April 1 and approved. Awaiting clarification if this was done.
