Got to completely agree with this! Indeed the nightmare scenario is coming true. Seems too much of a good thing for some people is well too much of a good thing. Time to stop this nonsense of being a Premier League Team of the Hull Tigers and get back to where we belong being a second rate Hull City AFC team that has been teetering between the nether regions of Div 2/Championship Div 3/League 1 or lower for most of its history-its much more fun. Time to get real guys! Supporter the owner and benefactor and the team. Drop the nonsense-CTWD. And please do not use the word appeasement it debases the word. We are talking a name change here not a fight for world peace. Grow up.
The article is very poor and really doesn't help AA - likewise I'm with the minority in that I do not think CTWD have approached this dialogue with AA strategically. The creation of the group seemed to be rushed, their comments and agenda are not helping dialogue with AA and we have (in my opinion) 2 wrongs not making a right. It's a mess and anyone who thinks the players don't get affected is kidding themselves. Unfortunately I don't have an answer as it seems battle lines are drawn and no one is taking a backward step. There are very few clubs and fans could make this season into the circus act it is fast becoming like HCAFC or whatever the **** anyone wants to call us..
I'm a member of CTWD. This fact is well known to those around me. I -- and other members -- have just explicitly been called a 'hooligan' by Dr Allam. Now I may be wrong, but to me that sounds like a libel. I am not a hooligan. Saying that I am defames me. Therefore a visit to Messrs Sue, Grabbit and Run may be required.
There are two members of the CTWD committee on this board. Please point out any post I've put up which has been offensive about Assem Allam.
Let's be clear here. Allam has said back the name or he's off. So really ctwd it's time to make the call. Back down, accept the change and worry about changing it back in a few years. Or we call for him to leave. I fail to see the point of anything else now given his ultimatum.
I think it may be a cultural thing with AA. Born and raised in a culture where backing down, admitting a mistake, is seen as weakness, especially if you are in a position of authority. Despite decades in this country, he clearly does not recognise that here, admitting a mistake, apologising and moving on is generally viewed as a sign of strength of character.
I have to say I'm completely in favour of Assem and everything he's done/doing. I understand and appreciate our heritage, but at least I still have my hometown club to support and that's solely down to him. I remember being concerned at Assem's 'antics' when he sacked Pearson and Barmby but he brought in Bruce and took us to the Prem. If changing the name has absolutely no impact down, then complain a much as you want in 18 months or so. However, if we continue to progress, these 'protests' will be a distant memory. Anyone who thinks all the banners, badges etc is going to change Assem's mind, are daft. He's made his decision and actually he has every right to do so if he believes that it will benefit the club. Calling the CTWD supporters 'hooligans' is completely understandable, punching a steward for doing his job is down right disgraceful and anyone who even found that humorous is absolutely pathetic! At the end of the day though it's only a game of football!
Genuinely shocked after reading that. So many contradictions it makes my head hurt. Hooligans? We can all die? Shut up or I'm off? Not much to say is there. What a depressing situation he's got us into.
I demand that: a/ He withdraws his planned name-change; and b/ He withdraws his ultimatum to sell up and quit. (There - I'm feeling especially arsey this a.m. as I've had a bad night.....)
Are CTWD connected to the steward-punching? (Or was it just down to the actions of one of the mythical '200'?)
But it's the actions of one that give you a reputation. Look at Millwall, not all their fans are hooligans, just a minority
We will need maybe another £20 million to become an established Premier League team. Our defence and midfield have the quality to stay up. We have a manager that can achieve it but we have an owner who has lent us the best part of his fortune to get here. He told Peter Levy he has no more money to lend to the club. Our expenditure is £11 million over our income this season already. A decent striker may take the deficit up to almost £30 million. By the end of this season we may be £100 million in debt. Assem Allam says that isn't sustainable. He's right for the owner of a Premier League team he doesn't have enough cash to pay each of his workers £1, £2 or £3 million a year. Given the money do you really think changing our name will bring in £10, £20 or £30 million a year into Hull City? Do you think our future as a football club should depend upon such a big gamble? I've spent all my life wanting Hull City to be better than Spurs, Liverpool, Everton and even Manchester United. Its not about 4th division football or the Premier League. Its about getting enough money to make us competitive in the Premier League. He had the opportunity to develop the KC in partnership with the Council. He turned it down. We could have had money coming into Hull City now from an hotel, a sports village and maybe some shops. He turned it down because Geraghty spoke to the press. I have grown up. Where's his business plan where's his vision of the future? I'm not giving up 109 years of being Hull City just because he tells me I have to and because he thinks some Chinese sponsors won't sponsor Hull City The Tigers but would Hull Tigers. I think you need to sit down and think about where we are going as a football club. Our future is in the hands of a man who think fans who sing City Till I Die should die and die quickly.
And still the point scoring goes on.... "well he started it, he's calling me a hooligan now etc" I told you to expect a reaction from Allam. He ups the ante every time. Now to the bravado's who say "I don't care if he does sell up, its my club" or "we are far more attractive to an investor now" think about what the more likely outcome will be. A further show of defiance today, will see a reaction tomorrow as promised. He will announce the club is up for sale and he will not spend one more penny. There will then be weeks of non-activity as surprisingly there are no credible investors willing to buy him out. Which well then prompt the January fire sale. After all, if you a player and you see this uncertainty going on, and you face the prospect of being stuck in a team in 12 months time, who can't pay your contract...what would you do? So before the hurt and offended react at today's match...expect that reaction to be met with a sad farewell to Hudds, Chester, Aluko, Davies and McGregor in January. It's your call. Yes it is blackmail but this is now your choice. He is a man as good as his word. Yes it's a generational thing. Yes its a cultural thing. But there is no way to keep the name AND keep the club in the top flight.
So you agree with his statement that I should die and die quickly for singing City Till I Die at 19:04? You say you are in favour of everything he's done/doing. Luckily the decision on the name change decision will be made by the FA not Assem Allam. I bet the Premier League and the FA are jumping for joy after reading the owner of a football club wishes his customers would die in an internationally renowned Sunday newspaper.
