I think we can all agree on that. But the debate is whether or not his other, unrelated actions outweigh that in the context of running a football club. Many on here will donate to charity in some way, but if we upset someone we couldn't attempt to justify it by pointing to charitable donations because the two are so completely separate. The same is true of football club owners.
I have been told many times in recent months that I should be grateful to the Allams for giving us Premier League football and now a FA Cup final. Why is it I was never told I should be grateful to Bartlett and Duffen? I never met Bartlett but I did meet Duffen and he came across as a right smarmy greaseball, a king of the soundbite who would wipe his hands after every handshake with a fan. I didn't like him but at least we all knew he was in it for the money. I also don't like the Allams. Their first love is money, so is their second. I don't have a problem with that at all, but I find it staggering that people believe them when they talk of saving the club as a gift to the community. If there was no chance of making a profit they would never have invested, and their "gift" to the people of Hull is just a way of flaunting their wealth. They could lose every penny loaned to the club and still be far wealthier than every one of us put together. Fez has got it bang on. I realise that they get approached by the press for interviews, they could always politely refuse. This game is about Hull City AFC, Steve Bruce and the team, and the generations of fans who are not around to see the day. Unfortunately there are those who prove that wealth does not automatically equate to class.
