Over on "Glory Glory", we're having an interesting discussion about what would be the definitive all-time best Spurs XI.

Here's my choice:

Vivian Woodward should be the first name on anyone's all-time greatest Spurs XI - he was the greatest player in the world of his generation and lead Great Britain to two Olympic Games gold medals.

We've had some great goalkeepers over the years but Pat Jennings is the obvious choice.

Mike England and Ledley King in central defence for me.

Tommy Clay at left back with Cyril Knowles on the right.

Dave Mackay and Danny Blanchflower in central midfield.

I'd opt for the flying Welshman Gareth Bale to partner Woodward the wings.

And upfront Martin Chivers to partner Jimmy Greaves.

It's really hard because I can only go with players that I've seen, and my experience only goes back to the mid/late 70s. I have no doubt about the greatness of these players, but if put say Chris Hughton at left back (which I would on my experience) then I mean no disrespect to any other player, but he is actually the best full back I've ever seen. Also would have to have Hoddle in midfield. Other than that will think about it.

Cyril was the best left back I have seen at the club but wouldn't put him on the right....
Otherwise there are some really difficult decisions to make. I would try and fit Hoddle in too and although I never saw him play, from all I have heard John White was very special.

Difficult to name an 11 - an abundance of riches over the years....

Yes. Agreed. I can only go with the players that I've seen. It really needs some thinking about this one. I can think of a short list of "must haves" but it's trying to fit them all in the same team.

So....Jennings, Mackay, Hoddle, Greaves, Gazza, Kilinsmann, Bale. Those are all on my must have list. That's just off the top of my head. It really does need some more thought.

This is extremely difficult, in fact absolutely impossible, we have had far too many great players. But I would go with....

Jennings

Blanchflower King Knowles

Mackay

Hoddle Gascoigne

Jones White
Bale

Greaves

My absolutes;

Jennings

Dave Mackay ; Danny Blanchflower; steve Perryman

Hoddle; Gazza; John white

Greaves

Bench
Clemence; Ossie; Hughton; Lineaker; Ginola;

Need longer to think the rest through....I think mine choices are dominated by the players I saw growing up but think thats kind of inevitable

I pretty much agree with this but I would like to include more of our modern players in an alternative team because I think players today play a different game with a different ball and defenders particulaly are more skillfull in the modern game.

Lloris

Kaboul Vertonghen King BAE

Lennon Hoddle Mackay Bale

Berbatov Greaves

Jennings
Mackay Campbell King
Blanchflower Hoddle
Ginola Gascoigne Bale
Greaves Archibald

Subs Thorstvedt, Mabbutt, Ardiles, White, Jones, Berbatov, Chivers

Bit of an attacking line up but there you go....

Alternate XI....

Clemence

Perryman
England
Mabbutt
Henry

Ginola
Ardiles
Burgess
Waddle

Gilzean
Klinsmann
