Ditto for me - during that 1966-67 season, following our World Cup triumph, I really came of age with the R's under Alec Stock and Rodney weaving his magic, the League Cup Final at Wembley, two promotions - there was no stopping us. Stan would be a very close second though and he did play play longer for us in Division One.
My favourites, chronologically, have been: John McLelland John Collins Rodney Marsh Stan Bowles Simon Stainrod John Byrne Paul Parker Les Ferdinand Kevin Gallen Martin Rowlands Adel Taarabt Best of the lot was Marsh though.
Sorry lads can't pick just one when you have that fabulous 75/76 side, so it is that whole side en masse including dear old Mick Leach who was more often than not a sub that season........the side rolls off the tongue....Parkes, Clement, Gillard, Hollins, McLintock, Webb, Thomas, Francis, Masson, Bowles, Givens, Leach...... From the earlier vintage Rodney...... Later vintages....Les, Sinton, Allen, Currie, Roeder.....
Has to be Terry Venables for me although I should hate him, he is the reason I support this damn football club.
Rodney for me, the reason QPR became 'famous' beyond W12 and why I as a young chiseller in Dublin clung on for better or worse to the hoops
The finest man - Mick The most talented - Stan The cleverest - Gerry & Terry Over achiever- Sir Les The player that gave me my favourite one off memory - The one and only Furs
I am probably from the youngerish generation on this board, and this probably shows in my picks; For most enjoyable to watch: Adel Taarabt or Trever Sinclair For most loved: would struggle to choose between Lee Cook and Marc Bircham.
Although I have already voted for Stan...someone mentioned Dave Thomas....but I remember thinking Dave Thomas was only a shadow of Roger Morgan...and occasionally his twin brother Ian. Was Roger Morgan as good as I remember.?
