Just about to go to the gym and been setting up a new smartwatch, and it got me thinking - I don't think we have a thread on technology on here, so...

Just on the smartwatch. Just got the new Galaxy watch 8 classic. Nice bit of kit, will see how it goes over the next couple of days. Ink is the battery won't be the best but the features are class. Nice looking too for a smartwatch.

As stated previously I’m an owld fart, I want my watch to tell me the time and I love my watch collection. The only “tech gadgets” I really have are remote controls so I don’t have to get up and down too much. That said there is some seriously good stuff out there. I mean my son has a robot mower ffs so apps and technology will force young uns to go the gym because their smart watches will be telling them they’ve done **** all since a week Tuesday.

Haha. I am a watch guy too. Have some nice ones (traditional) but wanted this new Samsung one (as daily driver) as I am trying to sort my lazy arse out and the health features are really good for a watch.

Calibrated it last night in terms of E.C.G, Bioelectrical Impedance and Blood Pressure. Added my gym stuff to it this morning. Should hopefully help with the continued shipping of timber!

This thread’s come along just at the right time. I’m nearly an old fart and after a reliable smart watch for swimming. I need it to count lengths in a pool and then gps for distance in open water when I decide to lowp in. Started in January and loving it that much I wouldn’t mind wild swimming but maybe need another thread for that on how to build up to more distance and speed.
I might not be able to reply for a while as just getting up for food then work. All advice appreciated.

Good idea this Prehab.
I’m on holiday in Spain at the moment, and spent about an hour trying to sort out Netflix via a Firestick last night. By the time I got it working - after fannying about trying to recover passwords etc, - I was so peeed off I couldn’t be bothered to watch anything!

The Samsung would do that ok but if it's for purely immaculate tracking of fitness, especially swimming I would go for a Garmin swim 2 or Garmin Forerunner.

Aye, it's a hassle with stuff like that. There are auto saved password options I think that you could enable. Or as the Mrs does, has a password book, not exact tech ha.

Yes - to cut a long story short - I managed to get in to reset the password as it wasn’t accepting what I thought it was and I didn’t have the password saved on my phone.
Like your Mrs, I also have a password book - but it’s at home in the draw!

For future reference, you could use Microsoft office app(maybe called m365) now. Take a pic of the book (create a scan, basically a PDF). Add it to a secure, encrypted part of your files on your phone, then you have digital version for when you're on the move.

They’re a canny bit cheaper than what I was looking at so will look in depth tonight when back home and order one.

If you’ve an iPhone add passwords into the password vault.

You can create a shared area called households and add all the household passwords into that (for stuff like Netflix, WiFi, routers etc

Good that. Been an android for years after becoming bored of apple ha. That's a nice feature though.

or install a password manager from the app store. it can save all passwords and generate secure ones going forward. Can recommend bitwarden or you can use the built in apple one.
