1) I think they are making a fundamental mistake and will change the feel of the Stadium with these proposals for the away fans. Why cant they be moved into the SW Corner and the SW Corner moved behind the goal. Less upheaval and means the singing corner can become the singing end with many fans being able to move as one. Moving the SW Corner up to the concourse (as they will) will disrupt where they all sit together; piss off the people in the concourse (me) and give the away fans the opportunity to spoil the SAFC fans below them at certain games. The situation behind the goal does need changing but this is taking a hammer to crack an egg imo. 2) This is a fans forum/website and not the stadium. I cant remember a more patient crowd than the one Bruce has enjoyed given the level of crap served uo month after month at home. 2 wins in 14 games is about as bad as it gets but apart form maybe 200/300 out of a 39,000 crowd who sang for his head after another winnless Saturday afternoon at the SOL, the majority are right behind the team. Dont confuse these boards with real match day support. These are sounding boards. Match days are different. I want rid of Bruce more than most but I haven't booed, or sang Bruce out at the ground, as its just not my thing. That said, I also don't condemn those that do either. We all pay our money and are entitled to voice opinions at the turnstyle.
Not sure if Im reading this wrong but I recieved a letter a month ago telling me I will be moved (well I won't because I have already decided not to renew) next season to accommodate the away fans. I'm in the NNW concourse. So I'm pretty sure thats where they are going. A big away following will be extended to closer behind the goal which only fills up for cheap tickets taken up by schools etc.
Its one hell of a challenge to increase the turnover of the club, our recent history hasnt exactly been a bed of roses, I think Short is relishing the challenge personally, and has no inclination of selling up, why would he, if we want Europe he isnt allowed to spend any of his own money anyway, it all has to be on turnover these days. He has lots of contacts in the USA and Asia, We will just have to see what he can pull out of his magicians hat in the next few months, but i can see the Stadium of light, not being called that much longer, and i cant see Tombola or the like being our sponsers for much longer either. But if it brings much needed revenue in, even if it just keeps us in the division/mid table, never mind Europe and beyond, we cant really argue about it (well we can and we will but not a lot we can actually do about it).
I always have and always will give my 100% support to the players who wear red and white stripes, its in my DNA. However, forums such as this give us fans a chance to vent our collective spleens on the state of our football club. What I would ask those who feel this is not a crisis.....at what point does it become a crisis? I have stated here before, I have watched this club since the late 60's and seen us in may relegation scraps. What I am seeing now is definately a relegation team managed by a clueless manager who is way out of depth. The crisis is now, the owner should act to give someone a chance to turn this situation around.
What is quinns new job because i thought it was about overseas work if so why is he at the games every week
Excellent heart felt post. I however don't see us as relegation fodder just yet. I fear however another season of doubt lies ahead. Bruce's record over the last 11 months is shocking, some of it is due to circumstances beyond his control. Injuries, players chasing the buck etc. The thing that worries me is. He doesn't appear to be learning from his blatant tactical mistakes.
