Pretty much how I see it too. Yes we are tenth and we've been **** in the first half of the season but we're not a million miles behind and we've not only got our main man to come back soon, we're about to get the chance to improve the squad too (if we have money)
Right, just seen Gerrez post To say many are writing off our chances I thought the odds would be longer
Can't remember the stat but apparently no team in our current position with our points has gone on to finish higher than 6th.
Aye, bookies still have Arsenal as 1-2 odds on favourite for top four despite how **** they have been for much of the season. Saints 5-1, Spurs 7-1, Liverpool 9-1 all sound about fair to me, tho' I'd have Spurs out at 9-1 with Liverpool, but very short odds on Arsenal and long on West Ham.
Arsenal are always going to have short odds because they have this reputation for always getting top four no matter what happens. As I've said all season, its Chelsea, Man City and Arsenal plus one other, unfortunately that other is looking like you manc batards
Itll all be good come january second ... the spanish revolution will be in full flow Rafa teaming up with Fernie for a third time, manquillo and moreno at full back , the monster masch rejoining. Lallana becoming the new kuyt , sterling the new pennant
Our next six games are: Burnley (A) Swansea (H) Leicester (H) AFC Wimbledon (A) FA CUP Sunderland (A) Aston Villa (A) Swansea are the best of the bunch but Sunderland away is perhaps the hardest fixture. All in all, we should be winning all six! Key word in that sentence is should. We won't!
RE: top four. Yes it is true a few of those will drop off, but the problem is can we catch up? Not on current form.
I'd say the problem is that if those predicted to drop off do so, its still not enough. We're tenth so need to overtake six sides from Chelsea, Man City, Arsenal, Man Utd, Southampton, West Ham, Swansea, Newcastle and Spurs.
Lots of people saying we should be winning all six. The last 2 games have seen an improvement going forward and may of seen better results but for poor finishing BUT You cannot ignore the f**ing huge elephant in the room, that Pool's defending is utter s**te (and even worse were set pieces are concerned) Unless that defending improves significantly both individually and collectively then talk of 6 match winning streaks is pure hot air. Allied to the fact the current keeper is unquestionably the worst in the PL. ( I don't care how poor Mig's is, he still a PL keeper whereas Jones is mid level championship at best and I could easlily name 30 keepers in PL squads who are better if I could be arsed!!) and that is the scale of the task and why we have 22pts from 17games and a GD of -3!!
