Just your opinion swan. In my opinion watching a test match live in the sun with beer is a highlight of the summer. Not great on telly though I'll give you that. If hurling is so good, why does barely anybody play it outside of Ireland and why do more Irish people still prefer English sports such as rugby and football.
GAA is by far and away, including the north of Ireland, the No 1 played genre of sport in Ireland. If you did a bit of research you would find there is quite an extensive international interest in the sport. The reason it hasnt got the massive attention of other sports is due to the fact that the GAA is trying to stick to its ethos of being an amateur sport, i.e. dont pay the players, and havent woken up to the modern world yet. That said Croke Park is a massively impressive stadium for an amateur organisation to pay for out of its own funds which the F.A. have only just bettered with the new Wembley which they still required huge gov,t loans and grants for.
It was a cracking final yesterday - the hurling has, in my opinion, been far more exciting than the football this year though I would expect that the final of the football will be brilliant. I don't know why nobody else plays hurling but can't say i really care - personally I think it's a superb game abut then i also like cricket. Aussie rules is another game which hasn't really travelled but i love that as well In fact the only "sports" I can't abide are all the motor ones. Still, live and let live...........
