Nowt came of it so it may just be a load of old ****e, but I don't think West Ham were entirely keen on doing any business with Sunderland as they clearly felt aggrieved in some way. He was still under contract, so I'm not sure it was as easy as just snapping him up. I would imagine we offered him a good contract despite his medical history and paid his agent quite handsomely in the process.

I know that in the past we have lost players because of our inability to break the rules when it comes to signing players (Kaboul, Nugent) which is something someone like Harry Saggy Chops has no problem doing. Niall is a straight shooter, a real nice guy in football. It is very hard to believe he would be tapping up a player talkin to unlicensed agents and players brothers etc. I think it was just lazy journalism trying to create a story where there was none. In the past transfer windows it seemed Bruce was all about getting defenders rather than strikers, 4 out of 20-something players he brought in were forwards; 2 were on loan. Before when Stoke tried to sign him and he failed his medical with them I would have agreed with you! But when West Ham took a 'gamble' on him (taking into account his failed Stoke medical) he was banging them in for them in what was a very ****e West Ham side. I would have taken the chance on him, especially with it being a free and all we would have lost is wages.

Having heard a few mags on here stating Newcastle were rubbish, yet watching MOD admittedly highlights Mags looked pretty good, Colo look poor (is he still injured) looked like he totally lacked pace. The young 21 croation or whatever he is looke canny. Cracking shot on him Ba looks good. Caybe didn't paly maybe you missed him. It's amazing what a run of three tough games can do, top teams and 1 point, it's difficult to regain momentum. Exactly the same happened to us last season and we got the injuries that you seem to be getting too. January is very nearly upon us, it will be very interesting to see what both teams do.
That will change this season. I wasn't confident at the start of the year but I do reckon we will finish above you this season like.
