Still a better deal, or at least less of an immediate strain on the pocket, than for those, the vast majority of clubs, where you have to pay the whole price for the season upfront.
I don’t give a stuff* how other clubs take payments for their season tickets. OUR club made certain statements and commitments to people with memberships and are yet again being vague about following through. My household pays them £60 a month and I’m not sure what for at the moment. *A quick google shows a plethora of clubs offer terms to spread payment of season tickets so I doubt your claim that “the vast majority” demand full payment up front.
As a masochist, I'm pretty happy with this £10 a game streaming option. It takes a lot of potential hassle and fretting out of the equation. HOWEVER, this is a selfish view and I am utterly disgusted that the club has deprived many long time followers of the club the opportunity to listen in to matches on the radio. Meaning those who simply don't have the option of access to streams, be it because they don't have the technology or because they don't have £10 available for every match we play. Thankfully I can help make sure at least 2 people who are now left in that position do get to see a stream most of the time, so won't miss out too often, but I really feel for the many that will miss out. So, whilst I personally am happy with the £10 stream option, as I'm sure lot's of other will be, it is a disgraceful, morally wrong move to scrap the radio coverage and the club should hang their heads in shame.
An excellent post, thank you, GFAW. When my Dad, 70 years a paying fan, had to go into a care home (Parkinsons, dementia, Cancer), we had Humbersides match commentary on the radio for every game in his room and that was one of the few times Dad came 'alive'. How many people are in that situation now, but are starved of even just a crap radio commentary? Come on Hull City, give it up eh?
