8 points clear and they blew it. Are Man Utd on the slide? It's a known fact that no team dominates forever and Man Utd's time could be up. Fergy will go soon. The golden generation is all but finished and the new generation of Jones, Smalling etc don't look in the same league. Of course they could go and splash out £230,000 a week on Sneider( who would massively improve their team) but that would be buying the title and Man Utd don't do that. Do they ???
So pleased for Man City, they deserved it over the season. Feel sorry for Bolton but they blew it last week against West Brom when they were 2-0 up with 20 minutes to go. Can't see QPR staying up next year and think they will do same as we did.
"Man u have been buying title for 20 years" right and man city haven't this year? Give me a break... man u have been a successful club for 20 years, succes brings money and therefore players. they have the greatest manager of all time. man city have literally bought success as they have nothing but rich owners to thank for the caliber of players they've brought in and therefore the success they've had. I know it's boring having man u win every year but I feel they have deserved far more than man city. man c have ruined football even more so than it had been for a while.
I just don't understand why people are suddelnly happy that a team that has spent the best part of half a BILLION on players & extortionate wages to buy the title. Utd have gradually built a team while Fergie has been manager, I remember the hatred of Liverpool when they were winning the title in the 80's & people were so happy when Utd broke there dominance. Just remember if you supported City today in 20 years, as long as the FIFA rules don't kick them where it hurts!
I don't understand why there is this myth about Man Utd spending in the right way. Unless of course, you think that football started with the Premier League. From 1988-91, Man Utd spent £15.2m which was 1.62x their 1989 revenue of £9.4m. That's the equivalent of Man Utd spending £533m today. Man Utd spent first in order to grow - just like Man City are doing. Man Utd happened to take off just at the right time, with the ability to spread around the globe quickly they began to reap in the rewards of that spending, and then became able to finance themselves. Man Utd were then allowed to continue spending for the next two decades, whereas now Man City are going to be stopped by FFP rules. Even looking at the teams today, there isn't much difference in spending. If you actually look at what would be considered each teams 'first choice' line up, Man Utd's costs £163m and Man City's £170m.
. Go back and see Fergie's first couple of summers at Man Utd, he spent comparitively more then than any team before or since. If that's not buying success I dont know what is and this allowed him the opportunity to then bring through the youth team products. Who is to say City wont do the same?
Alex Ferguson says Man City have bought the title. Cost of starting City team = £161m. Cost of starting United team = £169m.
Walking up and down the touchline with a big grin on your smacked-arse red face before realising you blew it? priceless.
Does anyone know the Man Utd starting line up today and how many players came through the ranks? I haven't a clue but dare guess at only Welbeck. I also see that due to a lack of form from Evra (or something or other )they are supposedly after a new left back. Will it be a young lad from the youth set up who gets a chance or will they spend ten million on Leighton Baines? Just a thought.
I believe some of their fans reckoned one of their youth players would be Evra's long-term replacement. I think his name was Dudgeon (or something like that anyway)
The thing is, will MU spend money on 1 or 2 players & how much will MC pay on 1 player. Either way, this could turn into the same thread as, "is Nick right or the Allams?"
how the **** am i supposed to know that? i saw it on twitter and posted it. like i give a ****. this is a hull city forum......
I agree that man City have bought the title, but Alex Fegusson has no right to criticise them for this as man U have done the same over 20 years To be fair, Giggs and Scholes who started have come through youth ranks, everyone else though, bought in at substantial cost
