Well that's everything which was posted on Dick's forum before it was closed down. I'll now carry on creating new match reports and posting them in this thread one at a time. After each new post is created I will edit in a second and third match before creating another post. This was originally done to allow me to add newly discovered matches between existing ones - every match being listed in date order. This forum allows up to 10 images per post. I've decided to insert three per post, as you will have noticed. Depending on other calls upon my time I can usually create three or four of these match reports per week. So check back often if you're finding these of interest. I have certainly enjoyed creating them, and learning much more than I ever knew before about the early history of CAFC. My intent is to continue to post these right up to the present day - something which may take a decade or so...
Season 1920-21 (part 17) A brief note regarding the Woolwich War Memorial Hospital Cup As far as I know, this competition was for local amateur teams, to raise funds for the hospital charities in the area. Charlton Athletic created the competition in 1911 after they won the Woolwich Challenge Cup three years running and were given the trophy to keep. The Club set up the Memorial Hospital Cup competition and donated the Woolwich Challenge Cup as its trophy. The last season that CAFC was an amateur Club was 1919-20, and the Addicks won the competition in that same season. If Charlton Athletic did compete in the Woolwich War Memorial Hospital Cup competition during season 1920-21 they would most likely have fielded what was known as their "Friendly team" which was actually a third team, quite possibly still comprising of amateur players.
