John Ward has "moved" to a new position as director of hoofball and the assistant manager has taken up the reigns. All smells of "Sh1t, we are actually in with a chance of non league football...quickly someone....hit the big red button with a P on it!" to me. <whistle>

This is a nice way of sacking him and re hiring him. I don't understand though.... I thought Ward was getting them promoted this season <laugh>

Manic, panic from the "gas" but as Higgs said, " They've been planning and talking about this since last season." <laugh><laugh>

' Chairman Nick Higgs said: “This is something we have had planned for a while, with discussions taking place as far back as last season.“We believe this is now the right time to make the switch, as we have to plan for next season and try to progress the club forward.“This gives Darrell time to prepare for the pre-season and think about recruitment for next season."

John Ward has always seemed a nice guy, so i'm happy to see he's not in charge when they go down

Should always answer the door (K. Pilkington).

You can never pretend you're out in a glass house.

    He's too nice to sack.

Actually, I'm quite relaxed about him staying as DoF. He's very experienced in the lower leagues and has plenty of contacts. I just don't want him having anything to do with team selection, preparation or tactics.

Massive gamble from the Gas this, an unexperienced manager being thrown in to a relegation battle. If it wasn't for your good form recently (you know when you were going for the play offs <laugh>) you could be in serious trouble..

The wife met him a few times during his first stint at Rovers when he and his scouting team were trawling the local schools looking for Bristol talent. She taught a certain Marcus Stewart and Marcus Browning at the time.

Thoroughly nice guy and a supporter of the local communities. Hope he does well.

I too don't want the Gas to go down. I just feel irritated on occasion by some of their fans.

Redprintt summed my feelings up perfectly.

I only want to see them go down, just so I can see Steve and Chrissy throw their toys out the pram. But I don't think they will go anyway.

Like most I always liked JW and was pissed off the way we got rid of him.

Too nice a guy to be sacked but we managed to do it.........

The Gas are just a couple of points too far ahead of the battle in reality

Torquay are down, and I'd love it if Portsmouth went with them......an abject example of how now to run and manage a football club. Dodgy 'Arry may yet have sealed their fate

JW is a decent guy however the gas will escape the drop as we will.

Both sides supposed to do well in their respective leagues, what a shambles the best city in the country to live in does not have a quality football team.

I have always liked John Ward, he is is a gentleman but he knew the odds when he took the job, he followed about 7 others in quick succession and I wouldn't trust the pot bellied Higgs as far as I could throw him, I have no sympathy at all for Bristol Rovers and quite like Pompey but destiny lies in the eyes of the beholders, the fans, well they made their choice, who am I to stop them wallowing in it.

I thought Ward didn't like it that Davidson brought in Benny to help him?
