Actually in fact i thought i'd put this to the test.

In the past 3 seasons, Ozil has 18 goals and 36 assists. Gylfi Siggurdson also has 27 goals and 27 assists so they are neck and neck on producing goals. Think i would give Gylfi the edge though since he plays in a **** team and goals are worth more than assists.

Taking it 1 further Cesc has 13 goals and 42 assists (55 goals) and Eriksen has 24 goals and 40 assists (64 goals).

Theres the stats for you and Ozil contributions

F*ck you're boring. People are allowed opinions different to you man. You can go watch Gylfi play if that's what floats your boat, I ain't stopping you.

I didn't say people aren't allowed other opinions. I was using stats to prove a point to AFC.

I think i've kept Valley plenty entertained.

I am enjoying your unexpected meltdown though.

Lastly if valley and I are not providing debate this place is a graveyard

Ozil 68 in 116 prem games

Gylfi 76 in 182 prem games

    Ozil 68/116*182 = 110.5 in 182

So in the prem Ozil has statistically almost 150% of the goals and assists of gylfi.

I think the past 3 seasons is a fair representation. Who bangs on about Rooney still being a superstar even though he's done it for 10 years +. He's fat and overweight now.

Also Gylfi was getting 10 mins here and there at spurs. Now we're comparing apples and good apples (this arsenal team is WAY better than Swansea) where both teams have built around Ozil and Gylfi, They both have the same number of assists and goals.

I suppose the other advantage ozil has over Gylfi is that Ozil can just goal hang and play a ball through whilst gylfi has to run around to get the ball :emoticon-0131-angel

That's some very poorly worded maths you've got going on there.

"Almost 50% more" would be better.

    Gylfi - prem - 38 played, 9 goals, 13 assists
    Gylfi - overall - 40 played, 10 goals, 13 assists

    Ozil - prem - 33 played, 8 goals, 10 assists
    Ozil - overall - 44 played, 12 goals, 14 assists

So gylfi got 1 goal and 3 assists more in the league with 5 more appearances and Ozil got 2 goals and 1 assist more overall with 4 games more.

    League stats this season

Ozil played 33 with 8 goals and 10 assists
Gylfi played 38 with 9 goals and 13 assists

Hardly a massive difference and i don't think any could claim to have a great season. Ozil obviously the better for what he does but Gylfi provides an all-round game, which is useful in a physical league. Stick Ozil in a better slicker side that covers his weaknesses, then he will get you a mountain more assists.

Just to add, he was massively missing Cazorla playing alongside him. At the end of the day, you take Ozil for what he is and you need to make sure you have the right players around him. Unfortunately with Caz out, we struggled to replicate what he did on the pitch with all our other players. Yet again we missed an opportunity in the Jan transfer window to get a like for like replacement for Caz, which i think would have made a big difference.

This is why we need someone in the management structure that will identify any weaknesses and provide fixes for it. Too often we let things slide and suffer from it.

you do realise 1 goal and 3 assists in 5 appearances is pretty much a goal a game (0.8 to be precise).

Considering Ozils output last season was 18 in 33 so about 0.55 then that's pretty significant.

He's already in a slicker side that covers his weaknesses. He doesn't have to track back much, he's pretty much up top the whole time and he's allowed to roam where ever he wants.

Cazorlas a big miss but then again ozil is still playing with the likes of xhaka and ramsay and ox and sanchez and bellerin.

Gylfis stuck next to jack cork, tom carroll and wayne routledge

Ah, now I understand another reason why Siggy is better than Ozil. ;)

In the league the stats are:
    Ozil - 0.545
    Gylfi - 0.578

    Overall:
    Ozil - 0.591
    Gylfi - 0.575

    Very similar to be fair.

I know this board is dead and all but how is this masquerading as a debate? I'm not exactly Ozil's biggest fan and wouldn't bat an eyelid if we sold him... But there's a reason no big team has gone in for Gylfi and that the only half decent team he's played for he's crashed and burned at. Classic big fish in a small pond player like Benteke and Chamakh.

Ozil on the other hand has been the most productive assister at Real and Arsenal etc and been called the best no10 in the world by Mourinho.

Mourinho has also said Pogba has been the best player on the pitch around 10 times last season (might be made up but he's deffo said it).

The actual debate was the Gylfi was a better fit for Swansea and that Ozil would probably not be as good for Swansea as Gylfi. Likewise i would probably agree that Ozils a better fit for Arsenal then Gylfi would be.

The part where all the stats came into it was some light hearted ripost to AFC who decided that Ozil was way better because he had better stats for the entirety of their PL Lives (considering Gylfi was essentially Joel Campbell at Spurs)

I then countered that because Gylfi has better stats this season (in the PL) and they are equal over the past 3 seasons when both players were at clubs who built their teams around them.

We're crying our for something to discuss, but this board needs better content than that.

    Wenger out? Fake bids? <cheers>.

In all honesty, it's been 12 years since you've done anything of any note and it's pretty much been groundhog day. The only thing to really discuss is now you've broken the Champions league cycle is about the Europa League.

The other thing this is a dedicated Ozil and Sanchez thread.

Do you reckon Sanchez is going to move? I'm 99% sure he will as i don't think he actually enjoys playing under wenger. I reckon if there aren't any signings in the next month of what he reckons is good enough, he will blow up and demand a moveo_O
