Has this transfer been mentioned, as I can't see a thread about it?
£4.2m is a little less than I'd have expected.

Thoughts?
 
He was out of contract in the summer and not part of AVBs plans, 4.2 million and not selling to a rival is a good deal imo
 
Don't think he went because AVB didn't want him. Once a player hands in a request to leave AVB won't keep him. I don't know why Alex wanted to go. Something made him unhappy and I do not think it was Luiz's arrival. AVB is always going to need at least three top centre backs and will use them.
 
He was unhappy at not being played a lot, and the reason he wasn't played a lot was because AVB obviously didn't see any use for him
 
Very good player. He seemed to always have stormers against us. In fact when he played for PSV, he put in one of the best performances I have ever seen from a CB against us.
 
I remember that, SJW.
Fantastic defensive display and he scored the winner too, I think.
 
I can see why he has been sold. Look at the signing of Cahill and Luiz always being played. AVB wants ball playing centre backs and Alex isn't one. Still top class though.
 
I'll remember him for for the several pile driver goals he scored for us. Reminded me of Peter Sillett!
