The more I read about AN, the more I'm warming to him and I expect that if he does become our next manager, he can expect a rapturous welcome when we play Cardiff. Just keeping my fingers crossed that the board (McNally primarily I guess) 'sees the light' and goes back to the idea of the manager having complete control over team affairs, so that we can get Alex Neil unveiled to the media later today and a fighting performance at Bournemouth tomorrow. A win there would just be the 'icing on the cake'!!!
Wanting control doesn't mean he won't recognise the experience that MP can bring. He'd be daft not to want MP alongside him as a coach.
McNally said in the summer though that he would be recruiting a technical director and director of recruitment to sit on a football management board with the first team manager.
I just think that your board has basically written off this season, It was calling out for an experienced head and I believe you would have been nailed on playoffs. Now, they are taking a huge gamble (probably cheap aswell), if the first home game don't go well, the **** will hit the fan.

Supers, you're intelligent enough not to fall for all the media guff. He was hardly going to state otherwise, was he!
I think that's a cleverly worded statement, firstly he says he wants full control of the team not the club as a whole. Which he would have with our current setup. As I see it the only small point of contention would be the signing of players but that easy to fix as he could be given a veto to players. At this level you have to work with a scouting by network to find players and I'm sure he knows that.

No. What they've done is write off the Neil Adams 'experiment' and go down a route that has brought them enormous success in the recent past.
This is no cheap shot in the dark. This is a carefully planned, head hunting recruitment policy. I am yet to read a negative comment about Alex Neil from anyone who knows anything about him. Universal approval. The only people who are being negative are those who know nothing about him.

Just to add a point to the 'cheap option' comment, of the four managers (assuming this deal goes through) appointed during McNally's reign, three have been head hunted from other clubs whilst doing well in their current job: Lambert, Hughton and Neil. The only one who was a 'cheap option' (though it was hardly cheap surrounding him with people to help him!) was Adams, but you could even argue (somewhat daft to but anyway) he was successful in his role, albeit at youth level at our own club.

It might work for you supers, but its a huge gamble and when you look at some of the managers you could have had in the summer, its mind boggling that your board has gone down the inexperienced route again (albeit more than adams granted).

Not really sure I get your point. All managerial appointments are gambles and I certainly don't see this one as 'huge'. Adams was 'huge' because he had no apparent managerial credentials at a crucial moment in our history. This appointment is absolutely nothing like the Adams one, other than the fact he's not managed in the Championship before. Of course it wouldn't be McNally's 'last call'. He's one of the best appointments this club has made in its 113 years. He made a few errors with Hughton's dismissal and I think that shook him a little and maybe the appointment of Adams was to try and get the fans back onside with 'one of their own', but other than that he's basically got everything else spot on. It would be like throwing the baby out with the bathwater.
Yes Guru, you could well be right, as far as choosing the manager is concerned. On the other hand, if 'he's pulled another rabbit out of the hat' ..........

Don't know much about Neil, but it seems to me he's willing to crack a few eggs to make an omelette. I think he could start with telling Martin he's a RB and if he doesn't want to play there then he should look for a new club. I would also like him to consider appointing a new captain, possibly Johnson. For me I prefer captains to play with the spine of a team. It maybe this was why Martin was trying to be a CB, I don't know, but it hasn't worked. It seems to me that some players have been picked as starting 11 players, which their performances don't justify and others seem not to have had a fair crack of the whip. Don't get me wrong Martin would be one of the first names on my team sheet, but at RB.
I probably know as much about Alex Neil as anyone else on here, ie, very little!
BUT, you tend to be able to get a feel for someone and whether they will be a good fit. I get that feeling and so, it seems, do many more of our fans. The only ones who are really perplexed or even angry about it (and the binmen) are those who haven't bothered to find out anything about him.
Doesn't mean he'll be a rip-roaring success but everything (and I do mean everything) I've heard and read suggests he's got a cracking chance.
I think his first priority should be to get these players to bond and show some desire! A bit basic? Sure. But it'd make a big difference immediately. Big enough to propel us into the top six

But, you see, there are a lot of Norwich fans much more sceptical than me. Don't ask me why, but they bizarrely seem to question your honour and integrity. They are not absolutely convinced of the honesty of what you are saying. Would you believe it, they actually think you "invent" things! They are telling me that your post above is a complete fabrication, particularly given that you have failed to substantiate anything when asked and it all (if you're not me, who believes you implicitly) looks a bit suspicious.
So, may I be so bold as to request, and please note that this is not for my benefit, that you just take the time to substantiate the claims you have made above? It would be much appreciated and I'm sure that it would go along way to demonstrating the validity of your posts?

Good points, but I sincerely hope we are not paying through the nose for him! I'm tentatively excited about this appointment, but as we all have said (much as the Binmen would prefer to ignore) we all recognise this remains a big risk (albeit I think with high reward due to the AN's obvious potential).
So given where he's come from, I suspect his costs are not high. It's kind of beside the point, of course, but the likes of Warnock should be much more expensive.
