Being sacked and when is a terrible measure of a manager. Only a tiny handful have escaped getting sacked in their careers, and still fewer calls to get sacked at some point. Being sacked is basically a permanent fact of being a manager. Measure them by their successes, not failures. McLaren has a few of the former to go with his failures.
But budgets don't buy team spirit, resolve, togetherness and willingness to roll the sleeves up, etc Lambert's team of ex Brighton / Wolves / Huddersfield upgrades had it in spades. It might need to be instilled into them periodically, but I don't feel that it can be bought
Yeah I don't disagree, just making the point that it's been proved statistically that the league table correlates almost exactly with the wage budgets of the clubs, with the odd exception. My point is more a general one, that we are just one of those teams whose position is probably in the virtual league that is made up of the bottom 8 of the top division and the top 10 of the second tier.
Can't dispute that. Too good for one, not good enough for the other. please log in to view this image please log in to view this image
And it is that togetherness/team spirit etc that has sadly gone missing and until it returns ..... Spot on Cromer!!!!
Cannot help but remember when we transcended yoyo status to go head to head with Bayern Munich. In celebrating this 'When Saturday Comes' described it as a technically inferior team outsmarting a technically superior one by having a plan and sticking to it with great results - feels like a millennium ago!
