Well that's a very easy thing to say but way off the mark. Unless you've been following me around for the last 10 years you wouldn't have seen the countless people I've praised on here. I'm commenting on this one case at the moment and I'm entitled to an opinion. It seems to me that the cost of taking a van load 2nd hand clothes 3000 miles far outweighs their value, do the costings. When he was there he'll have consumed food & water, used fuel & accommodation that might be better left to the 'starving & homeless'. What specialist skills a Manchester cabbie would have I've no idea. I'm not doubting that he cared but it's very easy to spout romantic prose about 'hero, bravery, courage' etc, but I don't see it as a realistic project. The money that was spent doing a round trip, plus the wages lost, would run into thousands of pounds. In reality he'd have been better off sending a cheque and spending his time on the poor and neglected children in Manchester. Sorry if that sounds heartless but I believe it to be the truth.

Kinda agree with Smug here. Whilst its horrific whats happened, A) what was he doing in Syria on xmas day and B) what the **** did he expect? I'm a bit daft? To expect him a WHITE CHRISTIAN ENGLISHMAN, not to be executed, when they are killing their own, is beyond daft. They shouldn't be beheading anyone, not just him. The FACTS are, they ARE beheading people, to put himself in that position was totally unnecessary, No matter what spin you put on it, no matter how much you claim he was a really good bloke. He knew they were beheading and murdering their own, he should have returned home, but he wanted to go further and push his luck, EVEN THOUGH THE PEOPLE HE WAS WITH TOLD HIM NOT TO!. I find it difficult to understand the mentality of some people who cannot find anything good to say about charitable works done by caring people and seek to overshadow the effort by decrying it as a daft thing to do. If he went against advice of Muslims he was with the reports at the time was that the charity givers were in an area not previously occupied by IS, or who is to say that they were not loocals just recently recruited. Maybe the outcome out of this will be that Alec Henning's name will get a special mention in Christian churches and Muslim mosques.

I's a tricky one mate, and i kinda get what you are saying.. The next one to appear on video, will be an American.. Sadly he does charity work in Syria, but s it has been plastered all over the world, he is also a former US army, who served in Iraq....He has no hope, and the media have helped what little chance he had, disappear... Henning has gone, in a terrible way, but now the world is focused on the next one....well done media. .
