I understand where Swords is coming from even if a bit provocative. The guy had history. A bit like the signing of Sandro. Sign a guy with a history of being injury prone and you shouldn't be surprised if he continues to be injury prone.
The day we can have a player with his heart, his passion, and his ability, and blindly chuck him on the scrapheap, will be the day I start reconsidering my own passion for the club. That's not the QPR way, and I sincerely hope never will be. Here's to you, Ale. Look forward to seeing you back soon.
Singing a crock is never good football business regardless of whether he's insured or not Soops I wouldn't agree with your statement mate but I'm a cynical old kant so best leave me stew in it Mind reading and hindsight not required Jack. It was pretty obvious at the time and was said by a number of posters that it was too risky and the chances of him pulling up again and the fact that he'd never actually played much PL football so mightn't be up to it after such an injury meant that giving him a new contract was bad business. Alas its proved to be the case
This is my gripe with us signing Sandra, sorry Sandro. I hope we get some use out of him if he can manage a season or two without any recurring injury's.
Does that mean we should never have signed Charlie, what with his dodgy knee and failed medical? In this age when the players bodies are pushed to the limit (AT excluded!) there are always going to be injuries, we feel it more because of the lack of depth in the squad to be able to replace any long term casualties and not being able to rotate the squad like other teams, but I'm sure we're not the only ones to suffer. Totally agree
Yeah Charlie was a calculated risk alright but not not odds-against as Faurlin was considering the amount of time the boy's been injured since he's been with us. After the promotion season he's been more or less permanently crocked. So signing him up again I thought at the time was a poor decision. In other words, the risk outweighed the potential benefit. Again, unfortunately its proved to be the case. Still, now that we have him lets hope he can regain fitness and play regularly for us again. But, like Sandro with his knees, I wouldn't hold my breath.
Also highlighted by Andrew Johnson, Kieron Dyer, Jermaine Jenas and Bobby Zamora (although he is almost making it through 90 mins these days).
When is his contract up? The only way we should offer him a new deal is if it is on a pay as you play basis. Don't get me wrong I feel for the guy and he is a great lad but we're not a charity.
Why are all these crocks singing..is it a bit........." like sing the Blues, when Rangers win and Chelsea lose"
I don't love the guy in a sexual way either, but when I think about him there's....you know...a little bit of wee...(whispers and points) down there....
The really sad thing is that I think he would have done better in the Premier League than the rough and tumble of the Championship where he will now most likely reappear for us.
He is a lovely lad. He's also a very good professional, not something we've been overly blessed with. He's also the best central midfield player at the club. Unfortunately, after such a series of injuries, I'll be surprised if he manages to get back to playing at a decent level. Hope I'm wrong.
Amen to that Chaz. I would also add that give me a player with half of the heart, passion & ability of Ale Faurlin & he would be in my Rangers team every match. We have not come close to that since that fateful day in Milton Keynes!
Don't feel embarassed about the down there bit - if it was a bit of wee up top there'd be an urgent need for medical assistance.
We all moan about the mercenaries that have infested the club in recent years so how anyone could want rid of Ali (a true R) is beyond me.
