I really can't understand how anyone in their right mind would think that was not a penalty and a sending off. In my opinion that was the most blatant penalty I have seen in a long time, and seeing as Fletcher was the last man the ref had no option with the sending off.
Yes, we were absolutely ****e before this incident, but the Mags could still not score. Get over it for goodness sake..

NEVER!! For what it's worth, I knew what was coming straight away. My only bit of ire comes from the fact we should have had a penalty just seconds prior to yours.

Either way, doesn't detract from the penalty and the red card (watching on replay it's probably 50/50 but at the time I wasn't surprised so can sympathise with the ref)

Are we gonna talk about this penalty all day again today? Just so I know so I can do something else...

I've got a dump brewing, had a full bag of mixed nuts yesterday so I imagine it's going to be dryer than a camel's snatch in a sandstorm... that should burn a couple of hours.

What penalty?

Today maybe a good day for some total nonesense threads.

Those were the days, the good old days.

I can only ponder upon what might of been, if only we had won the 2014 transfer window.

You'll never win a transfer window! We are the Barcelona of the North and as such, have almighty power in attracting top stars like Jack Colback, Karl Darlow and Mike Williamson (Thrilliamson). One day you can be as attractive to top level players such as those! <monster>

Rubbish man! We give our stars away to help the less fortunate.

I must learn to accept that we are merely a stepping stone on the path to greatness that are the Mighty Mags.

I am humbled. :(

We`ve got a couple more if you want them <monster>

I'll happily take M'Vila, Pants and Toivonen off your hands. They appear ready to rub shoulders with greatness!

You daft sod! If you have the time for it, you'd get my vote. I'm sure others would back you too!

I'll text you my address mate. She was too busy beating me up and telling me how rubbish Newcastle were and how good Sunderland are! I still think she suit a lovely little black and white shirt though.....

Yes I know mate, didn't think I would ever need to tell you to stop screaming ha, as for the black and white shirt, she is prone to the odd vomit bouts, it will come in handy..<ok>

Text the address later, she was quite gutted she hadn't done your picture for your desk at work..

Heyo, been away for a few days (half term with the kids) but better late than never.

It was tough to take the derby defeat as it was the first one we'd played well in for a while and 3-0 felt a massively unreflective scoreline (unlike previous results in this fixture in which the best team have won). It turned on one moment and although controversial (I see the FA have retracted the sending off now) the challenge was in the ball-park of "I've seen them given" and when you do that as a defender you are taking a chance. Some will argue it was definitely a penalty, others will argue it was far too soft but it is definitely somewhere in that grey zone. As for the sending off the 'last man' argument is null as that isn't the rule it's about whether it was a clear goalscoring opportunity and my opinion is about as important as everyone elses on here - not at all. The ref thought it was and therefore sent Colo off.

The ref made a different decision to the one I would have made but that doesn't make him wrong.

Newcastle played pretty well even with 10 men but I feel like we could still be playing now and not have scored and the only stat that matters is 3-0, all the others were in favour of Newcastle but they aren't very relevant now.

Well done to your lads.

Bastards.

a ****ing penalty? are you serious? the ball is spun up onto Catts arm from about one yard and Wij went down at the brush of his hair by which time Coates had cleared it anyway. Spot on call from the ref imo.
