The pre-match routine had begun...."Wallington, keep talking....back 4, take nae prisoners...mid-field, win yer battles and you pair up front, are ye fit?". "I'm fit gaffer but I'm no sure aboot him". Lineker was brickin' it, scared to death of the gaffer. "You'll be fine son...Youngy, look efter him!".
Not a request...an order. "Do ye awe ken yer jobs" he would ask"....Do ye awe ken yer bluddy jobs" he would shout..."Yes boss" was the reply. "Then get oot there and bluddy enjoy yersels but remember, retaliate first and stay TOGETHER....or else!".
No tactics, no formation, not a thing about the opposition other than the gaffer saying "I've just seen that lot and they are ****tin' themselves" because we all knew "our jobs".
It will be a battle tomorrow, of that I'm sure but if the lads "know their jobs" and you lot "keep doing your job" and we all continue to stay "TOGETHER".......then we'll win the war...............won't we Jock?....."too f****n' right son, noo get oot there and batter them!"
