The irony of course is whilst Turing was doing his code stuff and being hounded for being gay the secret services were full of them and got away with it, like Burgess, Blunt, and it was rumoured both Philby and Maclean at some point. And if you get the chance to go to Bletchley Park do so as some of Turing's work is on display the only stuff I understood were the page numbers.
