Although he would be a welcome signing ability wise I don't think I would like to see him at Leeds again, Bowyer who looks like signing for Ipswich yes but not Smith.

A few days ago I would have said never wanted him back but the lack of activity and the short fall we have in the middle he wouldn't be a bad signing at the moment but in all reality, he isn't going to play for the peanuts on offer by Bates.

Cannot see it happening he will sit out his last year at Newcastle the only option open to us if Newcastle offer to pay the lions share of his wages if he moves to Leeds on Loan .
If he can stay fit he would be an asset but is proberbly a risk that we cannot afford to take .

i thought newcastle were gonna pay 30,000, he then takes a 15,000 pay cut and we pay 15,000 i know it sounds like a messed up and unlikely possibility but i was pretty sure that was going ahead

I can see the Toon letting him go if they can manage to save on his wages. Ashley's very shrewd, if they can save £30K a week he'll do a deal. I can't see KB coughing up £15K a week though, maybe West Ham would.

well weren't we payign schmeichal around 15 a week though? and we were paying mccartney around 22 i thought not to mention O'Brien's wages as well and none of them were exactly our best players from last year

OB and McC were supposed to be Prem class but obviously didn't perform like it!! Smith hasn't been the same since he broke his leg with Scum so would be another risk.
