Alan Hansen's view on Suarez

I don't think enough is being made of Evra's part in today's events. He was found to be the victim of racism, Suarez got a stern punishment. Suarez refused to shake his hand, and at that stage was inevitably going to get slaughtered for it. All Evra achieved by grabbing his arm or rubbing his nose in defeat was to mitigate Suarez's snub.

However, taking the Suarez part in isolation, what Hansen said was that "He's let Kenny down, he's let the club down and he's let himself down." And he's right. I dont' think he had an obligation to shake hands before, but once Dalglish said that they would shake and that would be the end of it, the manager and club's authority were on the line.

Liverpool fans need no reminding, but a couple of not606 posters evidently do. The significance of this is that Hansen was Dalglish's captain. He's more than simply some bloke who just happened to play for the same club Suarez now does.

 

I think some of the scousers doth protest too much. You are letting your glorious club down
