Alan Davies (apparently hes a comedian) comments on Hillsborough.

I was speaking about Upson being linked to you. I was very respectful though.

 

I get the outrage over this. His comments were poorly informed yes, but i dont see where he is being deliberatelty disrespectful. It was not an unreasonable question and there have been valid answers in this thread that you couldn't expect Davies to know.

People in the public eye should know far better than to make such comments without prior research.

His ignorance condemns him further rather than exonerates him. If he doesn't know what he's talking about, it would be better all round if he kept his gob shut.

Of course he's entitled to his opinion. And if he chooses to say what he did, without any prior knowledge of why we don't play in the 15th (which has been answered multiple times here already), he should he equally entitled to hear the backlash against him.

 

No, but he didn't hold a comedy routine about Hillsborough either so whats your point. He was unhappy about football dates being changed. Thats not the same as mocking the dead.

 

I am replying insults now as it's all use seem to understand. And i'd like to point out never once did i say the **** doesnt deserve backlash. I wouldn't give a **** if he was brutally murdered.

 

I think it could work and the atmosphere would be brilliant, but I don't think the club will ever play on the 15th as the families don't want it to happen. Sounds simplistic but its pretty much how it works. Maybe one day the families will soften their stance toward this issue but I can't see it being anytime soon personally.

Fair point, its stupid to mention such a sensitive subject at all. Let alone without all the facts. All im saying is it wasn't him showing a lack of respect. I think it has been blown out of proportion.

 

His ****ing studio audience were pissing themselves laughing about the whole thing and the way Davies portayed our stance on the issue.

 

The lack of respect, I presume, comes from surrounding his question with terms like, "gets on my tits" and such like. If he wants to ask the question, go for it, someone will respond to him. It's like me saying the November 11th memorial gets on my tits because roads get blocked without me having a clue about the relevance of it to those who attend the services (I do attend, before anyone tries to twist this into an attack -.-). It would be an opinion, sure, but it's completely insensitive to go about it this way, especially as a public figure like himself.
