When has this ridiculous attitude come into to play? Its not 1920 where you say "Well played old chap". **** it, he scored he celebrated. Yeah over the top for a pen, but its a derby, you are meant to enjoy sticking it up the oppo. They don't get paid loads of money to be abused by fans. I'm not against fans chanting stuff to players, part and parcel of football. Equally though, why can't fans take a bit of stick back?

I remember Waddle getting dogs abuse for Sheff Wed the year we came up. He was getting it big time. He was taking a bit of piss to give it back too. There was some hilarious stuff getting chucked his way. They then started shouting Waddle whats the score as he went to take a throw in as we'd gone 4-2 up. he just turned round and started waving his hands like the conductor from an orchestra. He got a massive cheer for it. That's the way it should be. Why do people take offence so easily?

Just my personal opinion on professionalism fella. I'm not offended by AJ, just wish he showed more class. It may not be right and many may not agree with it but there you go.

Its nothing to do with showing class or professionalism though. Its a contest, one club on one side, one club on the other - fans and players are part of that. Its like when people moan about sledging in cricket saying it shows no class. Bollocks. Its actually pretty funny most of the time and being able to give a bit back is a touch of class if anything. Most of the time you find the fans respond well to it unless they are just brainless morons.

I have no problem with those who feel no need to respond. Everyone is different and that is what football (and life for that matter) is all about. It takes all sorts. I just find this thing where fans get on their high horse claiming its about class, keeping the peace, not offending, not inciting trouble is just such a cop out. Its just modern culture. Like McClean the other week, why are fans getting their knickers in a twist. A former player gives a bit back after taking non stop stick. Boo hoo.
