You've whined throughout this thread FFS! There are plenty things I agree with, I also think that out should mean out, but now we're still in it what you do is look at the positives and get behind the side, not sound off to anyone on here about how utterly tragic it is for United be where we are. This comp may well not go down as our finest hour but what it will do is give the likes of Jones, Cleverly, Young, Smalling etc. etc. some vital european experience for next year when we will be back in the CL. Fergie can use this comp to do that, get players fit and give others a rest and if we do well then it's a bonus in exactly the same way as the Carling Cup is. You need to see that, we can use this comp as a plus and we have no divine right to do well in the CL every season. Those fans who went to Amsterdam know this, it's galling to hear you, as a so called fan, moaning about it. As TV supporter you should be pleased you've something to watch.
Yeah, I know what you meant! Too true too. That quote below is a Cantona quote Page, not me!! I would never kick a hooligan!
I have never complained that we should still be in the Champions League. I have been complaining that we messed up and failed in the Champions League so winning the Europa League, which is effectively being used as a backup competition for us, would not a be a great achievement and would not be something to be proud of. I am very annoyed at the attitude our players showed in the Champions League this season and I feel that letting them play in the Europa League is like awarding failure.
I knew it was a Cantona comment, you told me(or someone else)ages ago. But back in those days it was'nt uncommon at away games to have to kick hooligans on the way back to the train station.
Well if that's the case you should instead take this as being their penance and a way of having to earn their wages instead of having the week off. Think of it as a silver lining to the cloud.
Could easily be an all Manchester final in the EL this year. Surely that would be something to whet your appetite Berbs?
Manchester United midfielder Antonio Valencia faces up to a month out of action after suffering a hamstring strain in their 2-0 win against Ajax. Second-half goals from Ashley Young and Javier Hernandez sealed the victory for the visitors against the Dutch side. Substitute Valencia injured himself while combining to produce United's second goal in Amsterdam. "It looks like a bad one," said manager Sir Alex Ferguson of the Ecuadorian's injury. With United leading 1-0 courtesy of Young's low shot just before the hour mark, Valencia had been on the field for just over 10 minutes when he supplied the ball to Wayne Rooney, who in turn fed Javier Hernandez for the goal.
You have to be at the ground to leave it maybe you should re-phrase to "Berbs sounds like the type of 'fan' who changes channel when we're losing..Not impressed.
A win other one of your biggest rivals is always nice but I still can't get excited about the Europa League given the way we've ended up in the competition.
I've seen you call the game tonight "pointless" and "unnecessary", that doesn't really fit the reason you've given above Berb.
How does calling the match pointless and unnecessary contradict me saying I can't get excited about the competition? :/
Try the bit after, you know, where you said 'given the way we've ended up in it'. Why does that make it pointless? The Europa league is no Champions League but you seem to be underestimating it, it's silverware and like I said previously - prestigious silverware.
