We do seem to have a more sensible transfer policy these days, though. I even see the Hooper situation as a positive in the sense that we tabled our highest bid but then lost out to an EPL side instead of offering them 10 million and giving him and ridiculous contract!
I think its shut for around a week after the window closes and a week around xmas but we can only get 1-3 month loans.

Do you remember the Tommy Smith loan deal as we (typically) failed to get the correct paperwork sorted to sign him before he summer window shut? 3 month long deals to ensure he was available for the maximum number of matches including the Christmas period.
I think AJ could be valuable player for us, but he won't score the goals needed for a promotion charge. Pairing him with Remy would be good move, IMO.
