I think it's a brilliant post and echos my sentiments in the fact the trust is now being built on people being concerned for the club - information which still is hear say. It seems to have been pounced upon by certain individuals who are fuelling the fear - is this really how you would want to start a trust? What happens if all the rumours are nonsense - will people still be willing to put time and money in? Will people turn on those that lead them to believe everything was going tits? And yes it's not nice to see someone lose their job - but remember that the said individual has tried several times to do the same to fellow colleagues.
I am fascinated about the fans on Charlton Life who are trying to force their way into the boardroom on the most petty of reasons. They seem to be saying, we are not happy with this board, we dont know them, they dont give us any sweets, they refuse to communcate with us and divulge company plans. WE have to know, because we have been spoilt under previous regimes. Rememebering the last board tolerated idiots (Parky,Pardew, the TRoll) while this new board have told the old faces to feck off. This is the board that got us promotion with a 100 points appointed CP and bought 17 players and counting in 26 months. This new board are not building a death star, we don't need a rebel alliance lets sit back and give them a chance But these twits that speak for about 5% of the CAC support feel they should run with the baton on behalf of all CAFC and demand changes on the flimsiest of reasons. It is embarassing that they call themselves activists when all they are looking for is personal kudos. Not one of those idiots has stopped to think why the board don't trust the supporters anymore, As the last lot just took the piss and used their club connections to impress their mates at the end of the platform at London Bridge. Excellent post by IA and Super BTW
For all the criticisms of CL on ere, I think this is an excellent post. Alright, soon will have to get ready for Derby...
I can at least use this chance, sidestepping the usual personal attacks, a reason I rarely post on here these days, and if a debate between posters is to be kept free of insults why not the individual who the thread is about as well, who isn't on here to defend himself. I'd like to pay a huge tribute to Rick Everitt if he is to leave, at the moment it appears to be speculation rather than fact, but perhaps I've missed some pertinent information. He has always made himself accessible to fans and I admire his professionalism in responding to my emails promptly and acting on issues I've raised. Rick Everitt hosted many of the volunteering events, interviews with managers at the Valley and always did so with great charm and erudition. He chaired along with Peter Varney a forum for web site administrators many years ago and made everyone feel at ease with his friendly style and I like the fact he sits in with the fans rather than behind the scenes on match days. It is these personal contributions he has made to the club over the years and rapport with the engaged fans that makes me think he'll be back in a role in the future and deserves to be so and would get my full support. As for the supporters trust, its inaugural meeting in the Conservative club is hardly likely to appeal to all sections of the fan base, it would've been better to choose a politically neutral venue like the Valley itself. I don't really see the need for it when there are already mechanisms in place for representing fans eg the Supporters Clubs etc, some of which do a very good job, so can only think its creation is an indirect attempt to undermine the board in their continued efforts to stabilise the club.
