Yeah, a lot of the guys have been saying the same thing for weeks now Oddy, but I figured they were talking about the big one. Maybe that explains why I'm off the punt. <laugh>

2012 - First 3 ran at Cheltenham
2011 - First 3 ran at Cheltenham
2010 - First 3 ran at Cheltenham
2009 - First 3 ran at Cheltenham
2008 - First 2 ran at Cheltenham
2007 - First 3 ran at Cheltenham
2006 - 1st and 3rd ran at Cheltenham

Cant be bothered going back any further but you get the point, fresh horse for the Juvenile might just be overplayed a tad.

Its a long way home in the straight at Aintree and you need to be race fit, I dont mind Fox Norton but he tends to down tools a bit in front and he hasnt run for 110 days, would worry about him after the last if he got to the front.

Morning all:

Today at Aintree:
2:00 Activial 4/1.
2:30 Dynaste 15/8.
3:05 Can't back TNO at 4/9 but should win. Diakali will run well.
3:40 Mossey Joe the raving horse. Do I want to play at 6/4 over National Fences? Not so sure.
4:15 Arnaud.
5:25 Sprit of Shankley.
Good luck.

I wonder how many of the Cheltenham horses finished in a different order to when running at the festival.

Wow, that surprises me Boris. Obviously I was only going on a sample of 1 <laugh> clearly more research required. Maybe the opposite is true, the 4YOs are all fit as butcher's dogs and can therefore get over their Cheltenham exertions more quickly? I haven't got a fecking clue to be honest <laugh>. I used to be able to drink a gallon of ale Friday night and be up at 5.30 Saturday to go to work. It would fecking kill me now <yikes>

With the dry ground today does anyone have a stat for flat breds at Aintree in the hurdle races. I'm thinking of having a saver in the first on Hawk high, I some success at the festival this way .What am I like, we haven't had a race yet and I'm having a saver.

I was quite surprised myself Oddy <laugh> As you always hear the word fresh being used when it comes to Aintree, who knows how many good horses went for those renewals "fresh" and were actually fancied, would have to dive deeper into it to be sure.

Maybe its more of an issue in the open Grade 1 races where most of the good runners in them are likely to have ran in 3 or 4 top races and might need more time after Cheltenham or might be over the top, whereas the Juveniles and Novices have only really had one serious race at Cheltenham which they were trained to peak for and the Cheltenham race might even put some of them spot on for here.

Aintree 2.30 Silviniaco Conti 3/1

Cant believe that price, I know he got beat in this last year but mistakes at vital stages cost him and he stayed on best at the end. He also went into last years race past his peak I think on his 5th start and the fall in the Gold Cup certainly wouldnt have helped. He has had a much better preparation for Aintree this time and im convinced he has another huge run in him today. I love Hidden Cyclone as much as the Shark himself maybe, but that Ryanair form is not top class and I think Dynaste is suspect at this trip despite him winning well over the course and distance, he was different class that day and not truly tested. He probably just about gets it but for some reason I have a slight doubt still. Conti is 6/4 in my book.

Desertmore Stream 9/4 Clonmel 4:45 can gain compensation in this Maiden Hurdle after bumping in to a couple of decent types on his previous 2 starts. Trip is on the short side but he really ought to be winning this today.

I couldn't be backing Conti today. He looked completely shattered after Cheltenham and I think this race will come too soon. I do think he is the best horse in the race but I just don't think he will win today.

Afternoon, troops. I think those old rogues the Pipe’s will bag a pair of Grade 1’s today (now that’s something I don’t say very often!) with DYNASTE (2.30) and THE WESTERN WARHORSE (4.50). I also think old boy CALIPTO (2.00) will make up for the misfortune he suffered in the Triumph by taking the card commencer.

THE RIVERSIDE THEATRE (5.35) looks well treated over hurdles off just 145 (last run over the big ‘uns off 163) and can reward each-way money in the lucky last whilst it has to be WARNE (3.40) and the forum’s favourite Corinthian for me in the ‘Foxhunters’.

Good luck all.
