Roman Abramovic sanctioned by the government. Chelsea's shop closed, sale of the club blocked, no more tickets to be sold. Couldn't happen to a nicer club.
I share your sentiment to the extent that Roman Abramovich deserves to be sanctioned immediately, and as he still ownd Chelsea FC it is right that the Government should take control of it, and ensure it does not earn any more money for RA. I would not wish to see Chelsea closed down because of Putin's war. Love 'em or loathe' em, they have been part of English Football History for over a Century. Many decades ago they were known as "The Pensioners" and had a proud link to British War veterans. It's also a sign of the times I guess that the 'good news thread' is now being used quite often to highlight the goodness (from our point of view) of the misfortunes of others. Never mind. I am gratified to hear that Abramovich has not simply been allowed to sell up and slip away. Well done to the UK Government for backing up at least some of its bold words about Oligarch chums of Putin.
How is this for good news https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-60756870 I'm not too bothered what deal was done behind the scenes conderning that old 'debt' from the mid 1970's. This is wonderful news.
Now a couple of hours later and still no confirmation that Nazanin has left Iran yet. Perhaps I posted too soon. I saw the BBC website post only two minutes after they put it up.
BBC World were saying earlier she had her passport and was at the airport. Hopefully just a matter of time!
6pm BBC news saying she is travelling now - so I assume she is out of Iran, and beyond any last-second tactics they might attempt.
Yes I’m already finding him irritating -he also wants sandgaard out so that one of the billionaires queuing up can buy us
As I've mentioned elsewhere; if a billionaire is the answer, you're asking the wrong question. Football needs billionaires like a junkie needs an overdose. I don't mind Ackers expressing his views as long as he stays civil and coherent about it. Big Sam isn't a realistic option though.
No you've still got it. He lasted well over 24 hours. Dick didn't want to show him the door but Ackers is just too energetic for a small forum that's trying to grow gradually and smoothly...
I hadn't ben on there for a bit, but went to see what all the fuss was about. Like walking into a bar after Popeye had been on the spinach - lot's of threads being merged or closed, and all very busy. To be honest, what was left over wasn't really anything bad - he's no fan of TS, and takes some fairly large liberties with the timelines to put the man down, but if you could prise him away from that, he made some good points about the summer transfers. It just feels as if any minute he hasn't spent posting on a forum is a minute wasted.
