The cancellation of Jim Davison is on C4 now. Seen Jim loads of times - Top comedian, good bloke and patriot. His podcasts are worth a watch
He’s old school. When I was growing up in South London in the 70s, there were lots of Jim Davidson’s around. The capital city was a much better place then as a result.
Very bad news today that Crayford greyhound track is closing. Crayford follows the likes of White City, Hackney, Catford, Wembley and Walthamstow in closing -a significant part of London’s sporting heritage that has literally gone to the dogs. Once you lose these precious sites you never get them back. I guarantee now they will build houses / flats on the Crayford dog track site
It’s a long story , but it really stinks what has happened down there. It’s bad news for the town & for London greyhound racing per se, which I love .
Catford was good, 10 minutes walk away. Great family night out. I used to let the kids pick winners and we always came out slightly ahead.
Catford Dogs was a night out. Great place to see old time Londoners, spivs, tarts and faeces in the long urinals. Loved watching the dogs doing what they were bred to do. An old boss of mine bought a racing greyhound, named it after the firm he owned and I don’t recall it ever winning a race. Saw him in Danson Park few years later with the same dog that was being outpaced by a bulldog.
They tried racing Alsations once but it only lasted one race. They were too Clever. Second race they stopped, had a think, set off the wrong way, caught the hare and ripped it to piece.
I once went greyhound racing out in Sweden, before the first race somebody thought I was a trainer purely on the basis of me being English! However, I had not been drinking and was stone cold sober for the first race, they were racing whippets!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! It was as funny as f***. If I had been p****** I would have thought I was hylucinating.
Captain Sir Tom Moore's family https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/articles/c86qdq67dd5o Shame on them. It's a mercy that he passed away (presumably) not knowing what pond life they are.
