As a kid growing up I'd be forever wanting to play football or take my bike to the park.

    Smartphones are ruining kids' lives.

I agree with those MPs who think smartphones should be for over 16's only.
But for many reasons that ain't going to happen.

So our children and their parents must suffer the consequences.

Cyber bullying is rife with the youngsters nowadays and continues throughout the teens and beyond- the football forums are as far as I go , I have no desire to post my breakfast , house , holidays etc etc on line for every Tom , Dick or Harry to look at - head wobble emoji

Tamsin Outhwaite, a very tidy bit of crumpet I must add, once said that Facebook was for people with too much time on their hands. I made her right.

That annual 3 day event of drug taking, ****ting & urinating in the street, and violent crime starts again.

    Aka The Notting Hill Carnival.

It’s high time this anti social orgy was banned, but the current Mayor doesn’t have the balls.

Having lived locally for some years, I can’t tell you what a horrible pain in the arse these 3 days are for local people. The amount of property damage and the financial cost to local residents is massive.

Still…anything goes in the name of diversity.

Some anti-social behaviour by Greenwich Council coming soon as well so I see on the News.

Some roads in the borough are going to be closed to cars - even those of local residents.
Low Traffic Neighbourhoods I think they are called.
Making people drive a mile out of their way to get from one street to another, instead of a couple of dozen yards.
    Yes, that makes environmental sense.

    Hi folks.

I deleted this thread earlier this morning, but then thought better of it. So it's back now.
I'd only ask that any bad news posted here in future be related in some way to the Club, the local area or football in general.

Even my pop at Mayor Khan was a bit out of order, as it was Greenwich Council I was unhappy with for their Low Traffic policies, which will affect some Charlton residents every day, and will make traffic even worse on match days. Greenwich Council policy is not dictated by Sadiq Khan though and I shouldn't have strayed off topic by speculating about pay-per-mile.

The Notting Hill Carnival situation is not good at all.
But after what happened when the widespread rioting was going on all over the UK, the Carnival situation - which is not connected in any way with CAFC or football - is not within scope for debate on this forum.
Non CAFC or football subjects likely to cause division and toxicity are off the agenda here now.

I think it is best to keep the non Charlton content down as much as possible. I am not telling people what to think or write but it is working well avoiding the contentious issues.

We're not telling members what to post or not to post.
We're asking for co-operation going forward, in the spirit of preserving the best aspects of this forum.

I freely confess I have been very guilty for years in the past of posting completely off-topic and controversial comment many times - about B****t, the GE and other things - in threads now deleted.
I thought I was exercising a right and upholding a principle but I was barking up the wrong tree.
Members who have said for years that this community should focus on the Club and the football were right.
I'm sorry it took me so long to appreciate that.

ULEZ costing Charlton fans who want to visit their folks is bang on topic for this thread.
I was almost in the same position as you @Smudger603
My car was registered in 2005. One year earlier and it would have been £12.50 every Saturday.
He'll probably move the goalposts before long :headbang:

The Sun reporting this morning that Keir Starmer is about to announce draconian new restrictions on outdoor smoking.

Pub gardens, outside football stadiums & public parks are among the locations where smoking will be banned.

This is real crossing a line territory, in terms of civil liberties. It’s the State interfering in matters that are none of its business, because certain people think they know best.

Who is going to enforce these new laws ?

It’s not a Party political point, I’d be vehemently opposed to this measure whoever tried to introduce it.

We need to be very careful here ….
