Thank you. It's ironic, as over the last three months I've made major changes to my lifestyle and diet, including quitting the snouts after 33 years, cutting out the sugar and carbs, moving more and being more mindful. I gave up the booze fifteen years back because it was killing me and I'd missed too much of my kids' early days. But now this comes along and I start questioning whether it's all been worth it. I may go back to being a hellraiser. Sorry to be so down and deep.
All the best ponders , you don’t know - things could have been a lot worse if you didn’t change your lifestyle
Unbelievable prices https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/articles/cx2w4lqz73no One large piece of battered Cod - £12.50 Haddock - £10 An absolute disgrace. But not the Chippies' fault.
I hope the stocks haven't dropped below the critical level. I used to love herring, the North Sea was full of them, but I visited a kipper smokery in Northumberland a few years ago, and the herring was imported from Norway. The only fish left is mackerel, which I like as long as it's fresh, but isn't really to the British taste.
If you offered the Chippie a pound note he'd struggle to gather enough change. Prices are a disgrace now, for so many things. 40 years ago I had to work for about 20 minutes to earn enough for large Cod & Chips. And that was on a starting wage as a teenager. Now I should think it's on the high side of an hour.
I was brought up in Catford, there was a chip shop about a mile down the road in Downham, whether we went in there or was going past on the bus, on a Friday between 7-9 there was a queue outside the door. When we wanted some fish we would order it to make sure they did not run out and to save time. Happy days.
There's a chippy up the road from me that was already charging £18 for cod and chips. I'll not pay those prices, even though I can comfortably afford it. A rip-off is a rip-off in my book. As a kid, poor and hungry, I used to beg the man in the chippy for a small bag of batter bits. Every now and then, he'd throw in a free wally, which I'd lob over the fence on the walk home.
Disgraceful. If OFCOM doesn't think this site should be taken down then what is the point of that regulator. https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/articles/c24q1n6905mo Encouraging killing is incitement to violence. That is plainly obvious. Not just physical violence, but in the wider context of a threat to life. On that basis alone this website and all others like it should be banned.
