With reference to the Rooney overhead.

1. If the ball hadn't taken a deflection, he'd have been completely out of position to do it in the first place.

2. He shinned it. It could have gone anywhere.

KingPepeReina i like suarez, but with regards to him he is unkown same as coleman was last season no-one knew how to approach him, same with bale in europe, no -one knew how to deal with him but phil neville had him in his pocket twice last season., but teams and managers will know all about suarez now this next season will be a massive test for him im sure he will do well but teams will have a tactic to deal with him, how he adapts to that will show how good he really is, time will tell.
 
Rooney can make space for himself...theres plenty of it in between his ears.You can only adapt to players with one dimension ie Hernandez.Suarez doesn't have one dimension..he's got 4 dimensions.He's harder to pick up than Carlos Tevez who in my opinion is vastly superior in every way to Rooney.
 
Kuyt didn't adjust quickly enough to the prem and didn't get the goals we needed and were hoped for from him in his first season. So he got shunted out to the right where he did a decent job out of position because he's a committed player. I think he'd get more goals if he played as an out and out striker in the current set-up. Suarez is an entirely different player and even if he doesn't get a hatful of goals, what he does to defences to create them is entirely enough to justify calling him a success.
Rooney is a knob but still a good player.
I don't know what to say about Aguero because tbh I haven't seen that much of him. His reputation precedes him by a mile though, so yes, he sounds like a great signing. But like most above I can't see it happening.
 
Yes he's made a name for himself, as a good Player.

There are countless examples of Players coming to England with a repuation gained in weaker Leagues/International Football, and they usually start off, full of confidence, like a house on fire.

But the reality of The Premier League, the intensity of it, the physical demands it places on them is unlike anything they have, or are ever likely to, encounter.

And there weaknesses are found out. In Suarez case, he is just not quick enough.

I am not saying he won't be a success at LFC, I think he will do well, he is a good Player.

What he isn't is a World Class Player who ticks all the boxes.

Aguero does.
 
Red Hadron Collider, oh dear god so the should he not be commended for the adjusting to a deflected ball very sharply? and he didnt shi it, he hit it absolutely perfectly with any kind of over head kick , not with his foot but with the perfect curve formed between the roof of the foot and the leg bone, not his shin it was cupped perfectly. had gerrard scored this one i think its safe to say you would have a differing opinion.

what about his barca final goal tho? that was sublime.

The fact he went about 10 months (correct me if im wrong!) without scoring suggests to me he is far from a great striker.
 
Schofield is back with the pace thing.
Pace according to Schofield is everything.
Suarez doesn't need to have blistering pace.He's got out of this world close control as was evident when he took the piss out of 6 Man United players.
This was discussed on another article.Pace is an asset...not a necessity.Great players have got by without blistering pace.
 
Skylarker, ah yes but what was going on during that time? it atleast shows he is human, he brought it all on himself ut to have your entire private life dragged through the gutter press for so long and have such a high pressure job you will flaunder, he picked it up at the back end of the season, season before he was top goalscorer in the league. im not saying he is great im just saying he is a very very good footballer than most team over the owlr dwould have in their side.

Lettuce. He didn't adjust at all - he was just lucky it came to him where he was standing. And yes, he shinned it.

Mr Schofield. I have to mirror what another poster said and what many united mates of mine have said. Some players do get found out, but Suarez won't because he isn't a 'formula' player. He's incredibly creative and his movement and vision are staggering. He made an immediate impact on his arrival and just got better. Without being a blind Red, i really expect great things from him this coming season. As far as pace is concerned, he's very quick over 5 yards, which for his approach, is all he needs.
 
Mr Schofield is a bit of a one-track CD with the pace business. The fact that he considers it the defining attribute of a great player seems to indicate that he's a lot less knowledgeable about the game than he would have us believe.
Or else he's a wum.

I agree with what you're saying to some degree...but we're talking about the odd flash from a player coming directly from a decent World Cup - but not midway thru a season like Suarez. Fresher than daisys he was. Looked streets ahead of EVERY player in the Prem - immediately. Never seen that before.

If you don't know just how well Suarez has played (half a season btw)...then I think you've been looking elsewhere son. Nothing to be ashamed of...but take it from us...Suarez is world-class...of that, there is no doubt.

Oh and he doesn't LACK pace...Upstairs, he's yards ahead of most defenders. As clear as the nose on my face to anyone who's admired his movement off the ball...and space he creates before gaining possession. Once he gets the ball he does remarkable things with his feet to keep possession - and then he does things like ghost past four manc defenders in their own box in a turning circle of five yards...and still has the nous to create a goal. Time will tell. But pretty confident over here.

Did you watch him in the World Cup maybe Schofield?

saintanton pace is important but technical ability far outweighs pace its good to have a nice balance though, like lennon the road runner good for nothing other than pace and dodgy eyebrows.
